What speed reading software out there works the quikest, but is affordable?

I was looking for software that will help me become able to speed read, but there are so many choices, and I am unable to determine which is best. I want affordable software ($250 Maximum, Ideally $100 to $80) but, it works fairly quick.

Just to add, I am currently a student in middle school, if age is a serious factor.

I can recommend you Speed Reader X for $29.95. http://www.speedreaderx.com/ I have used it myself and it really works. Ace Reader is also a good choice but it costs $49.95. http://www.acereader.com/personal/buy.ht ml To get some taste of speed reading you can try free online speed reading courses such as http://www.startspeedreading.com/free-sp eed-reading-tips/

Can someone recommend a software for speed reading????

Have 2 grade school kids and would like them to improve in their academic studies. Also, I planning to attend school in the fall, and would like to stay on tops of my studies too. Do anyone know of a software for speed reading.

Thanks

No speed reading course has ever been proven to be effective, despite thier claims that someone can read at 500-1000 words per minute.

When you read faster, your comprehension of the material will suffer.

Try a google search on the effectiveness of speed reading or reading comprehension studies and steer clear of the websites that are selling a speed reading technique.

In short, if speed reading was actually effective and improved reading comprehension, then it would have been taught in grade school.

Best French language software for graduate school?

I need to read French for graduate school-but I want to be fluent in it, not just be able to read it. I thought about Rosetta Stone since I really would rather have a software program for the computer rather than a book and audio C.D. I don't care much for the audio C.D.s. Any suggestions would be great. :)

I think that I might have interesting answer to your question. There is a program called TypeIt ReadIt that can talk in different languages. I was using it the other day for Spanish.

Here is how it works: Type or cut/paste what you want the computer to say and click its speech button. The computer will start talking. This is great for learning pronunciation and words. It also comes with a spell checker that supports French. (The spell checker is not the greatest in the world but it seems to get the job done.) The program is freeware and can be downloaded from Schoolfreeware's website. http://www.schoolfreeware.com

Unfortunately it doesn't come with French voices but you can get a French voice for about $30.00 from Cepstral (there is a link in the program's website someplace). The program doesn't translate any words, but it will speak to you, in that language, and you can use it to type in French. (You may need a character pallet or change the keyboard setting to type in French.) This program can save to a file so you can listen to your French files on your iPod.

If you are looking for a program to translate English to French try Yahoo! Babble Fish http://babelfish.yahoo.com

  • iPad: well technology lead to school change? | What's Become Clear

I had the opportunity yesterday to play with the new iPad and as I was putting it through its paces I kept wondering, “is this the new technology that will lead to school change?” My friend Kevin Honeycutt had pre-ordered the new iPad and sat patiently on his front porch Saturday until it arrived.

This new technology is off the charts cool! Actually it’s an iPhone on steroids. All of Kevin’s apps from his iPhone work on his iPad. But in many cases their functionality changes dramatically simply because there’s a bigger screen. And in some cases there are some new applications.

As I played with it I kept wondering how might kids use this in school? Reading books on it is amazing. The lighting is perfect and I can control the size of the font, while still holding it just like a book. I can easily see books that we have kids read being downloaded and read right on their iPad.
