My son is a freshman recently diagnosed as ADD with a reading disorder. Trouble started in the fourth grade and the only "help" from the teachers, admin and DOE is to tell us that our son is lazy and unmotivated. Have started OG tutoring and am looking into Kurzweil software . How could Success For All have left my child so far behind?
His tutor has placed his language and comprehension at 5th grade 5th month.
Thats what makes Success For All so unique. My nephew was also diagnosed with ADD and had a reading disorder too..I dont know how they did it but he is now No 1 in his class. Just believe in their program:) If you have any questions, maybe they can answer that for you:)

RocketReader Kids - Your Child's Head Start in Reading! Is your child just starting to learn how to read? If so, give them a head start with ...
Have 2 grade school kids and would like them to improve in their academic studies. Also, I planning to attend school in the fall, and would like to stay on tops of my studies too. Do anyone know of a software for speed reading.
Thanks
No speed reading course has ever been proven to be effective, despite thier claims that someone can read at 500-1000 words per minute.
When you read faster, your comprehension of the material will suffer.
Try a google search on the effectiveness of speed reading or reading comprehension studies and steer clear of the websites that are selling a speed reading technique.
In short, if speed reading was actually effective and improved reading comprehension, then it would have been taught in grade school.
It should involve reading, but not learning how to read.
It can be for any grade 3-9.
Here's a list of language art for kids between 2-5.

I want to be able to stop my kid from reading certain email, if it has certain keywords in it.
I need it for web based email.
hi
please try "net nanny"
:)
In the past couple of years, I finally agreed to let my children (now ages 14 and 11) have email accounts, and most recently Facebook pages. The caveat on the email is they have to be ok with me spot-checking it from time to time, and on the Facebook the same, plus the stipulations that they have to keep me on their friends lists, everything is set to 'Friends Only' and they cannot add anyone to their friends who they have not personally met.
Is this too intrusive? My concern isn't with my kids, but with online predators. I've told them this, and I always let them know if/when I have taken a look, so they don't feel as if I am spying on them, but I wonder if perhaps they will eventually feel as if I am violating their privacy.
I feel like this is a more upfront way to go about it than, for example, the security software which would allow me to monitor their computer activity (even down to IMs) without them ever even knowing it - at least I am being honest with them and telling them I'm watching for their own protection - right? Or am I rationalizing?
I think as long as you are being honest and letting them know that you are checking their e-mails once in a while, there is nothing wrong with that!
Have you talked to your kids about the dangers of online predators?
Sometimes if kids learn about some real life stories, they will be more careful, and you will not need to check their e-mails!
Good luck.

Making the most of computer software often involves activities that take kids away from the keyboard. The best learning takes place when kids transfer knowledge they gain elsewhere to their work at the computer and vice versa. Consequently, there are an endless number of play activities you can launch at home that can enhance the knowledge that comes from the software.
For instance, those classic productivity tools–magic markers and construction paper offer a great beginning. A good way of starting young children on the computer and reinforcing their awareness of the keyboard is to help them make a map of the keyboard on a piece of brightly colored construction paper. Outline each row of keys on the keyboard in a different color with magic marker. Then make a guessing game out of finding the keys. Let your child point out the locations of the A key and the B key. You fill in the letters they guess correctly. This works best when played near the actual computer keyboard where the kids can check their answers, and you can help point out the locations. When you’ve filled in the key outlines, post the keyboard map near the computer and be sure to write the lowercase letters next to the capitals. Children just learning the alphabet are often confused at finding only capital letters on the PC keyboard.
