What books and software do you suggest to learn piano, reading sheet music, and music theory?
Pitch Master Pro - Relative Pitch & Absolute Pitch Ear Training - Perfect Pitch Software

I'm trying to learn how to play the piano. I guess the first step is to figure out how to read sheet music. I was wondering if there was any software that will let me learn notes from the computer keyboard. Then I was hoping to get some books to learn how to actually play the piano, music theory, and also reading sheet music. Thanks.

I should also mention that I don't have direct access to a store (I have no car, college campus) and was hoping for recommended titles I can order off Amazon or BN.

You're really best off taking a few piano lessons in person, if possible. All the theory in the world won't help if you can't associate the notes to the keys and to the tones. Once you can get a good visual map of what C or F# *looks* and *sounds* like on the piano, then you can start looking at how it translates to sheet music. Once you get to that point, there are a million self-teaching books and videos, and you can pick one that will work best with a style of learing you like.

Is there software that can read sheet music from images?
amrit at ganeshpole

I know there is software for reading normal Latin characters from images and scans, but how about sheet music? I have wished I had this on numerous occasions. It doesn't have to be free, but cheap preferably.

Is the software for reading pdf sheet music?

I have a page of sheet music in the form of a .pdf that i want to transpose. is there software to somehow get it into a format recognized by other programs for sheet music?

I use Finale (and highly recommend it) which has a scanning feature. You can take any hard copy of music (just print the .pdf file) and scan it into Finale (or any other music notation software with a scan feature) and transpose it from there.

Many drummers have problems reading the drum tabs. Plenty of them could be found on the internet, but not all drummers are able to read them. However, with some knowledge these unusual symbols could tell you how to play your favorite songs. And we are going to help you to become more educated and to learn how to read the drum tabs.

A few general types of tabs exist. And one of the most popular one is ASCII tabs. These tabs are the ones that are on the internet. They are highly popular for a certain reason. Writing these tabs does not require purchasing special software. Reading these tabs does not require any special software either. The divisions of the beats are represented as small dashes. The x symbols and the circles represent the drums and the cymbals on the dashes. And each drum as well as each cymbal has its own line.
