Is there any existing software that gathers news or web updates based from keywords or phrases that I set? Like for instance, if I want to gather up news or web updates or articles that were recently published on the net about cars, photography, etc. So is there such kind of software? I read stuffs about readers/feeders but don't know if that is the program I am actually looking for. Thanks in advance! Cheers. ^_^
There is "brief" which is a Firefox extension... You define the search with a very easily written XML search spec, then it will periodically update it for you by searching the search engines.

I read the news saying that software piracy lead to $50 BILLION loss last year (2008) .
And that 41% users depend on pirated software.
So , my question is , can't these software developer fine users that use pirated software ?
Obviously under their terms and conditions they can , then why don't they ?
Wouldn't that mean , that the software developers will get more revenue. And then , with that they can invest more on Customer Support Departments and R&D, thus providing better service.
I used to be a software developer, and sometimes my software was pirated. From my point of view, the best approach was to make the software difficult to pirate, rather than trying to get money from the pirates. That's because to fine people you need to find out who they are and get a lawyer involved, which most smaller companies do not have the resources to do. It's much simpler to take steps on the front end to prevent or minimize piracy to begin with - the method I used was partial key verification and it worked pretty well.

I'm semi- new to the programming world. I've been programming for about a year and a half, but I dont feel like I know enough to be proud of the fact that I am a computer Science major now entering his third year. I'm also very embarrassed in front of my classmates who seem to have been studying computer science for much longer than I have. Sometimes I feel like I may have jumped into the major too quickly, as I am now having lots of trouble keeping up. What sites can you offer for me to read up on the latest news and software in the world of computer science? I also consider myself a slow learner, so what methods of learning C++ and Java can you offer other than simply reading books?
Apprentice yourself to a local mom and pop computer shop, join a computer programming club(since your in a college that offers the degree I know there is one around there).

All the computer news fit to print.
As for learning C++ and Java the only method(and don't let people fool you otherwise) of really learning is to write code and keep writing until your eyes burn and your fingers hurt. Just knowing # include <iostream> is more than 98% of the population so relax and practice. What you need to search for is some good C++ programing forums to join and extra homework assignments.

This is a very comprehensive forum for all programming languages and most of the people there are pretty good people.
