I have trouble reading the TI-83 plus calculator. Do they make larger font calculators that are graphing?
I do not want just a magnifier thing because I have trouble with some of the keys too.
That is the same problem I had, I had the TI-83 plus, but I had trouble making out the letters. So I went back to Target, which has the best prices on calculators in my area, explained my problem, and I returned the calculator ( it was within the warranty date). I then bought the TI-89 silver edition, which had a much bigger font size, and my problem was solved. I suggest you by the TI-89, it fixed my problem.

Hey Rhinorm, how's it going?
So you want to make the Character Map program display larger.
Let's look into the options.
Answer:
1. Zoom in on one character at a time:
By clicking on individual characters (or clicking once, then moving using the keyboard) it will zoom in/out the currently selected character.
if this isn't what you're looking for (but want to be able to see the whole thing)
2. Lower your screen resolution:
If running windows xp (or similar) you can right-mouse-click on your background, click properties. There will be tabs at the top of the page that comes up. Click on the one that says Settings. There's a resolution slider here. It's probably set to something like 1024x768, or 1280x1024, or maybe 800x600. Regardless, you can "zoom" the entire desktop by lowering the resolution. You'll see tick marks on the slider. Try sliding it down to a lower mark and click apply.
3. I know you said you didn't want to use a magnifier - but just in case you were talking about a physical one:
Use windows magnifier.
Click [Start] [Run] and type in "magnify" w/o the quotes.
This will start windows magnifier, which zooms the part of the image near the cursor, on the zoom-display area.
You can drag+drop the zoomed area wherever it works best for you.
If that's what you've *already* been doing, just skip this one, but if you're talking old-school magnifier, well, this might be a good option for you :)
Alright, I'm all out of answers for now!
Hope that helps,

Do they really work for someone losing their sight? My mom is having problems reading the smaller letters on her current 19" TV screen and want to know if a magnifier is the answer over buying a larger TV. Is the picture really clear and undistorted as the ads claim?
The magnifiers I have seen include an oil filled one way back in the 50s , these were for the little 9ins screens and were quite good for normal sighted people .
Later on they brought out Fresnel screens which in my opinion were more of a novelty than a practical solution, they do of course reduce brightness so probably would not help a great deal someone with poor eyesight. They do not cost a fortune however so best bet is get hold of one to try first .
Cheers Pete
My email prints out so small I cannot read it even with a magnifier
right now the only thing I can think of that you can do is to highlight the email, copy and then paste it to your notepad. Your notepad has a font size where you can set it to a larger size. You can read it from there.
Maybe someone will come up with a simpler idea. But for meantime, hope this helps/works.
