I have elmo and sesame street reading software from the late 90s - how can i get it to work with Vista?

I have a new PC with Vista Home Premium, and our educational software works sporadically, if at all. The CDs make grinding sounds in the drive and stop working.

Any thoughts?

it may not be compatable with vista if you bought it 10 years ago. look on the cd and it should tell you what windows its compatable with.

vista has had alot of compatability problems in general anyways even with products that work on xp

Does anyone remember name of this one educational software?

I seen it a few times on the commercial and I think it's endorsed by Alex Trebek. Something about helping improve reading, writing, and communication skills ranging from pre-school to grad school.
I know it's neither Hooked on Phonics nor this Brainpop since they sound tailored mostly to kids. I'm trying to retrace this software that's also tailored for people in college, grad school, and working professionals.

brainpop ?

Seeking Australian Educational Computer Software?

I am seeking educational computer software for a 4 to 5 year old. Programs that help with reading and maths, etc.

As I am Australian, I am hoping to avoid programs that have American spellling and voices/accents.

Are such products available that are more 'Australian'?

Thanks!

Is there Educational Software available for Nintendo DS?

In particular, math-learning software to help my fourth-grade daughter develop an interest in math, and catch up with her level in reading (10th grade).
Please provide details, such as manufacturer websites, or consumer reviews.

the main games i've heard of are Brain Age and Big Brain Acadamy. Of the two (i've read many reviews), I've heard Brain Age is more interesting. They're not meant as substitutes for learning though, only for little mental tune-ups, and mini-testing yourself, and the like. Google would help you.

[edit: Brain Age's website: http://www.brainage.com/launch/index.jsp

the website's own specification of what it is:

Exercise Your Brain

"Exercise is the key to good health, both for body and mind-and now there's finally a way to make mental exercise simple, fun, even competitive. Inspired by the work of prominent Japanese neuroscientist Dr. Ryuta Kawashima, Brain Age features activities designed to help stimulate your brain and give it the workout it needs like solving simple math problems, counting people going in and out of a house simultaneously, drawing pictures on the Nintendo DS touch screen, and reading classic literature out loud."]

What is the best educational software for grades K-4 that is both fun for them and easy to manage for staff?

I am the computer aide at an elementary school. We have a computer lab with 30 student computers, and most of the teachers have a few computers in their classrooms. We run Windows XP Pro. Currently, we are using software called Success Maker Enterprise for the kids. I'll say it plainly: I hate it. It sucks. The kids are getting bored with it, and it's a heartache trying to get any kind of useful reports or data from it. Not to mention it is constantly freezing up at one point or another.

I really want to get the kids onto something better. I want something that is fun for them but at the same time convenient for the teachers and I to manage the classes and see their progress. It's Kindergarten through fourth grade, so it needs to be simple for them to log into, such as simply entering their student ID number, which they are already accustomed to doing.

We mostly focus on Math and Reading for the computer software, so if that's all it has, that's perfectly fine.

Well, I gotta go! Class is here! I hope you can point me in the right direction!

I think that KidPix, Kidspiration/Inspiration, Study Island
These have worked great for me. i apologize that i do not have all of the info for each one, but you should be able to look it up.
