Mine's MS Reader. I absolutely hate reading books in .pdf format. I read on my laptop, not on an e-book tablet.
I haven't tried many others, what's your preferred reader? Any you could recommend?
Most of my ebooks are in either pdf or html formats. A few are MS reader and Mobi. I just got a Sony reader, so I also have a few in their format. Thankfully, my Sony reader reads most formats as long as they are not DRM protected.
I am very bad at sight reading and i know if i can master it i will be a much better player. I know this is holding me back from my full potential. So i want something that is very good at teaching sight reading for the piano.
This software may or may not be right for you but its worth mentioning. If you have an electronic keyboard that you can connect to your computer with a MIDI cable this software will teach you, monitor what you play and correct you when you make mistakes. Watch the little video on the Amazon page to get a feel for it if you are interested. I've used it and it's pretty amazing although a lot of reviewers on Amazon.com don't care for it. Maybe they don't have their keyboards connected to their computers.

Anyways, good luck.

I have some books in pdf version. Is there any free software available which can read those books if I download the books into that software.
Thank you so much for taking out your precious time to read it.
The best .pdf reader is Adobe Reader. It is completely free and you can open these books with it if you downloaded them... You can get adobe reader from here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversion s/

The Evelyn Wood Speed Reading Course was basically the first out there. Almost all the other courses just repeat the same techniques as Evelyn Wood.
I took Evelyn Woods course, and let me save you a lot of time and money, you don't need it. What they teach really only takes a few minutes and the rest of the book is just fluff.
They teach you to read faster by not reading words aloud in your head, they call this "subvocalization". And the other thing is to read with your finger, underline sentences at about 1 second or more per line and just look at the words trying not to pronounce them in your head, and bingo you'll read faster.
Reading faster does not mean that you will comprehend more as most of the courses claim in their advertising.
It takes work to read faster and you have to constantly push yourself. It's hard to do when you are enjoying a good novel or if you are reading something really technical or difficult.
But if you want to read something just to get the gist of it, especially newspapers or magazine articles then speed reading can work.
Basically what speed reading is, is skimming. Some people are going to comprehend more than others and some people will be faster readers than others.
Please do not believe those programs or books that claim you can read more than a thousand words a minute, if you find any documented studies that proves that to be true, please point them out because I haven't found any.
If speed reading really had any merit to it, they'd be teaching it in grammar school.
I need a Speed Reading Program/Book/CD-Rom/Software that will increase my reading speed and comprehension as much as possible within 25-30 days. I have a grad level test and I want to improve my score on the reading comp. The passages are dense, its highly timed, and they asked pretty detailed questions. The program needs to be efficient with exercises because there are other sections I need to work on as well. I cant invest all of my time on speed reading.
lollerskates: heyy, I have no qualms with your comment but whats funny/cute? (and no, i'm not saying that in a joe pesci voice, lol)
I used a program to learn speed reading a few month ago with good success. I learned both speed reading and comprehension altogether, I spent an hour or two per day and I got pretty good improvement after a month's learning. It does provide exercises and I guess it will work well for you too.
I've done my research at that time before I chose the course to start with. You can see the actual customer review on Amazon for the program I used. There is also a website which talks about how to get the most out of the program. I put the links here for you to check them out yourself:

And I'll suggest you to choose the online version if you want to get started immediately. It is also the version I used.
Hope that helps.

Calibre – free e-book library management software « frog on a wire
Calibre is a free and open source e-book library management software (for Windows, OS X and Linux) and among a long list, for library management, e-book conversion, syncing to e-book readers, e-book reading, and can download news and convert it into e-book. Don’t let the donationware tag mislead you: this is one great useful software. It takes out all the headaches of managing your e-books and transferring it to the e-book reader of your choice. I have a Nook and choosing the appropriate formats and syncing was as simple as choosing this reader as the target hardware. I hope it remains donationware for some time.
