know that video camera's can do thermal imaging (seeing heat sources) and night vision (seeing in the dark). But what else are the highest end camera's able to record?
And what can audio devices pick up? I know they can pick up things that are too high or low in pitch for a human ear to perceive. Anything else ?
Thanks.
It depends on the camera or detector. Visible Light is just part of the electromagnetic spectrum. We have different devices that are sensitive to the various parts of the spectrum (radio, microwave, infrared, visible light, ultra violet, x rays, gamma rays) Any camera or detector can be created to register the just about any wavelength. But for generating imagery that is meaningful to us in an everyday way there is little point going below infrared or ultra Violet.
As for audio devices - sound are pressure waves in a medium (typically air, but could be water or solid material). So we can build a microphone or detector to pick up any frequency of sound. But to 'hear' a sound below or above the human ear threshold the frequency must be converted into the range of human hearing on playback. So we never can 'hear' the Original sound. Be that as it may changing the frequency to audible ranges does not alter the patterns in the sound so if that is what we are recording for it is still very useful.
High-tech hearing devices, using BlueTooth technology, can make hearing aids function like wireless headsets for your television, cell phone or ...
It's an older oil furnace with a Honeywell R8184M control with R,W,G,Y,C. terminals as usual. The heat pump is an Armstrong 2SHP13 with terminals W1,C,L,R,O,Y1. The thermostat is a Honeywell vision pro 8000 Th832ou with terminals R,Rc,C,Y,Y2,AUX,G,E,L,O/B, S1,S2. S1 andS2 are for an outdoor temp sensor that I am using. Please help! Best answer promised!
refer to the t8000 install guide, page 5 under "wiring guide" for heat pump systems...your system will be considered a 2H/1C heat pump [with auxiliary heat]...tstat wiring is the usual.....w-wire connected to the aux terminal for the furnace...install jumper from e to aux per the instructions...y-yellow wire turns on the outdoor contacter....o/b orange wire for the reversing valve in the outside unit...g-green wire turns on furnace fan.......note that the orange wire from tstat and odu are connected at the furnace with wire nut but not connected to anything on the furnace....you need to run at least 8-conducter wire from furnace to tstat and from furnace to odu...you will connect both red wires to R at furnace,,both yellows to Y,,both blue wires [common] to C....single green from tstat to G..single white from tstat to W......the yellow wire at the tstat connects to Yat tstat,,y2 wont be used in this application.....be sure to set up the menu options correctly at the tstat per instructions beginning on page 6........on option #170 you will choose 7.....on option #200 choose 1.....on option #210 choose 0 ...i assume the tstat controls everything,,no "fossil fuel kit" at furnace is necessary.........the rest of the options are for you to decide or leave as they are...i assume the heat pump reversing valve is energized in the cooling mode,,so option #190 choose 0....but verify that is correct by running heat pump before you leave in the heat mode,,check that the air temp at regesters is above room temp, not below....if its cooling when it should be heating then choose 1 on option #190.......the only thing i'm not sure about is how to safely run furnace some during defrost so customer doesnt get cold air for 5 minutes...but i would not connect the white wire from odu to w terminal at furnace because if furnace runs for the whole defrost it will be too much heat on the a-coil...so i would leave white wire between odu and furnace disconnected...the heat pump shouldnt defrost much anyway if you choose 40 degrees as your changeover temp from heat pump to furnace on option #350 ...for option #360 choose the factory default of 0 so the tstat will automatically run the furnace above 40 deg outside temp if the heat pump cant do it...in other words, you want to lock out the heat pump from running when its below 40 deg,but you do NOT want to lock out the furnace above 40 deg..if you lock out the furnace above 40 deg, then they will have no heat above 40 deg if heat pump malfunctions...****i have been using the word "option" above when i should have using the term in the install instructions "setup function",sorry...also,,i dont do oil heat,,so i am assuming the furnace transformer has enough v a to energize the fan relay, contacter, and reversing valve together....hope this helps.......dan

LOS ANGELES — With authorities promising tighter borders, some farmers who rely on immigrant labor are eyeing an emerging generation of fruit-picking robots and high-tech tractors to do everything from pluck premium wine grapes to clean and core lettuce.
Such machines, now in various stages of development, could become essential for harvesting delicate fruits and vegetables that are still picked by hand.
"If we want to maintain our current agriculture here in California, that's where mechanization comes in," said Jack King, national affairs manager for the California Farm Bureau
"There's a lot of very nervous people out there in agriculture in terms of what's going to be available in the labor force," said Robert Wample, viticulture and enology program director at California State University, Fresno.
Mechanized picking wouldn't be new for some California crops such as canning tomatoes, low-grade wine grapes and nuts.
But the fresh produce that dominates the state's agricultural output — and that consumers expect to find unblemished in supermarkets — is too fragile to be picked by the machines now in use.
The new pickers rely on advances in computing power and hydraulics that can make robotic limbs and digits operate with near-human sensitivity. Modern imaging technology also enables the machines to recognize and sort fruits and vegetables of varying qualities.
"The technology is maturing just at the right time to allow us to do this kind of work economically," said Derek Morikawa, whose San Diego-based Vision Robotics has been working with the California Citrus Research Board and Washington State Apple Commission to develop a fruit picker.

All I know is I'd rather go for that than to keep listening to people claim certain jobs were "slave" labor. I remember when computers first came out.....they were afraid it would displace too many people and ended up it didn't. Computers were to erase the need for paper. LOL. Seems more jobs were created than what we lost. There are people still needed to fix the robots when they break down. They invented the cotton gin to replace slaves.....they are working.
What people don't get is there is always going to be rich and poor and what looks like perfect jobs and what looks like crap jobs. There is always going to be some jobs being paid more than others. Always going to be someone trying to make more money off the backs of someone else. Heck they can make movies without actors....create music without an instrument. We are all replaceable....but at what expense?
The large display radio controlled Atomic Clock is easy to see and easy to set up. Place 1 "AA" battery (not included) in the clock, set to your time zone, and the clock will do the rest. It's that simple!
No need to adjust the time for daylight savings or change the date for leap year with this radio controlled Atomic Clock!
Either mount the Atomic Clock on the wall or use the fold out stand to place it on a table or desk.
I am B.E mechanical from SSEC, Bhavnagar with aggregate of 76.8%.in year 2006
I have worked as GET in SCL, Ranavav from (July 2006-July 2007)
Currently i m doing M.tech from SVNIT, SURAT in Industrial Process Equipment Design and is about to complete.(2007-2009)
Now what I want advice is what to do? because I am rejected in Medical Test at one COMPANY because of low vision in my right eye. but my left eye is normal. and i am not feeling any difficulty with it from my childhood. but company does not want to hear this.
and I m also rejected in medical test due to same eye problem in GIPCL company in sept. 2006.
I have consulted doctor in CIVIL HOSPITAL ahmedabad for Physically handicapped certificate but they told only 30% disability is there in my vision. so i m falling into criteria of PH as per govt. rule ( 40% for PH).
Now what to do????????
These medical issue will always be in my way..? what to do?
PhD., lecturership or JOB in company which accept my problem and me......
Here is an advice from a former SVNITian. Don't be discouraged or disheartened by your physical impairment. Engineers have to overcome many problems in their work and you are one. Face life as it comes. PhD is a good option but do it at I.I.T or I.I.Sc for greater credibility.
Good Luck
