I understand them wanting to come across as more mystical that way. But is that the only reason? Even in broad daylight, alot of the lines are incredibly fine and without perfect vision ala Superman they aren't always that easy to see. The low light that they tend to use frequently makes that virtually impossible.
Only the showy ones use low light. If they are real or serious about there profession they will use bright light. And FYI even the carnival ones who might be real, they only need to see the really deep lines to get your classic. "I see you have a strong life line, and your hart line tells me you will find true love soon." reading. For the most part it's a gimmick. all for show and Entertainment. but there are legit ones out there.

I am not getting on with varifocals for driving and am going to buy some half-eye readers that I can drive and look over the top. I only want them when I need to see the SatNav writing about 4 feet away. So in buying from eBay do I guess that I need a higher number or lower number than my reading prescription? Thanks in advance.
Less.. but don't buy from e-bay, try them out at the pharmacy or supermarket.
That's one big car you have with the sat-nav 4 feet away!!!

A dioptric number and a magnification number are not the same thing. Diopter strength represents a specific magnification power (X). For example, a 5-diopter provides 2.5X magnification (at a distance of 8")
Aspheric magnifier produces a sharp image to the edge of the lens for less distortion
Round lens and wide rim to protect lens surfaces
Remakes are often tedious, but this is one movie that I'd like to see remade by a Director and Producers with the talent AND vision to make Frank Herbert's classic Science Fiction novels come properly alive.
It was on free HBO today and was sooooooo BAD, that I couldn't watch it.
Herbert is probably spinning in his grave every time it shows.
I'm hoping to obtain the TV mini-series version some day- I understand it was well done for a far lower budget _sa
But to your point, I read the book decades ago and my wife read it not at all. We both liked the art-deco look to the worlds, and the almost steampunk style of equipment (before anyone had thought of steampunk!) I thought the director did a fair job, given early eighties movie technology (pre-Terminator 2 morphing) of illustrating the other dimensions involved in the "weirding way" and the "weirding module." Yes, what he sacrificed was the dense political story, but he only had two hours; c'mon. Remake? Go ahead and knock yourself out. I don't think Dune will ever have that much audience exactly because of the dense political story.

That rig could be great for Auto-cad with its Quadro FX 5800 but not really awesome for gaming. It does not also support DX 11.
For gaming, I would prefer this set up:
http://www.techreport.com/articles.x/177 87/8 then with a monster DX11 card installed like the ATI HD 5970:

And multi-monitor set up:

I've been thinking a lot about this lately and I need outside help to see how accurate my perception of this situation really is. I suspect that I may have been born as a genius of spatial and mathematical intelligences.
To start, I want to describe how I Think. I am a visual/spatial thinker and when I think I can see a great multitude of images at the same time as I manipulate them to understand concepts, etc. Its as if nothing escapes my metal vision. I often think with 10 maybe even more thoughts at a time. Nothing goes unseen or so it seems. I'm not very good with linguistics even though it may seem like it. I have trouble understanding concepts of writing but I was a delayed reader/speaker/writer for various reasons. ButWhen I do think the rest of my mind almost can't keep up. The voice I hear describing what I see is always delayed by great gaps. The only problem I really have is translating what I see into clear consice and organized thoughts that can be communicated to others through writing, speech, etc. However, I never produced any great work or achieved anything really great, But, a lot of what I've read about genius and personality traits can be applied to me. (I never really fit in or understood others, I was extremely antisocial as a child, and my first grade teacher used to give me extra math home work becuase I would finish it so fast. On the other hand, I was always plagued by apathy. I never have and still don't have any true motivation to anything great. My whole life I have been coasting through school, doing the least amount of work possible and producing the least amount of effort but I can still get A's with ease. Typically in math and science courses (not everything). I only do this because I don't want to be bothered about getting low grades etc. I often think "Look I can't do all of this amazing stuff that I've read about other genius" but the way I think leaves a great doubt in my mind. I wasted most of my life playing video games. I never studied in my entire school career. I was always frustrated with not being able to understand those around me and how those around me never could come close to understanding me. And don't say I have an ego becuase I've spent the majority of my life with an inferiority complex. I still do have a complex now to a smaller degree. And now even tho I have drastically reduced memory and focus becuase of never focusing on doing school work or studying, I can still do good in school. Do you have any thoughts or opinions about this?
Yea you're right.. I have done a few free I.Q. tests online but the accuracy is questionable. However the most recent on I got a 134 or something and I took the Mensa online workout and got 20 or 21 out of 30. I can't remember haha. But This is recently and like I've said before my memory is terrible and my focus/attention span is probably a little below level because of how many brain degenerating activities I've done in my past. But I regret wasting so much of my potential. Also, the reason for the inferiority complex was due to wearing glasses, being scarwny, not understanding peers, and not being able to read and speak properly until the end of second grade. Mostly the latter. Even with my exceptional math and spatial skills at that age I thought nothing of my intelligence becuase of how inadequate I felt about not being able to read when my other classmates could. (I was put into this slow / special ed reading thing for awhile).
Anthony, it is so ironic that you mentioned the fuel thing because my one true passion is for cars. I'm mostly a VW fan. But I like all well engineered cars no matter the origin. I even comteplated becoming and automotive engineer because that was the one thing I never had to push myself to do it always seem to be a natural thing. I was always gravitated and interested in learning anything and everything about cars.
Also, I always have coasted through life because I never found a purpose. I always felt there was no reason to do things. For the longest time I stuggled to find something worth fighting for, to work hard for and be motivated for. And I still am to this day. Ultimately my vision supercedes everything else in my life. Thats why I was always so apathetic about everything. I struggled to find a purpose.
i honestly think that you are absolutely AMAZING!!!!! you don't need for anyone to tell you that, hopefully i meet you one day.....i'm speechless jack....and am adding to my friends on here by the way lol!
