I'm lookin' for a pair of glasses to help me read the tiny a$$ print in my textbooks, but I've got 20/20 vision and don't want anything too extreme. The textbook print always gives me and my buds a headache and eye fatigue because we have to squint and put our nose into these books because they're so old they look like someone peed in them.
I saw +1.25 at Shoppers, but I was wondering if there's anything weaker than that?
Weaker ones exist -- I swear I've seen +1.00 somewhere. Probably a dollar store. I've never seen anything below +1, but it might exist.
I'm fairly sure that Shoppers Drug Mart never carries anything below +1.25, nor does Chapters or Sears or anywhere with the nice-ish ones. Lenscrafters also has ready-made ones, but I have no idea what powers and I imagine they're a bit more expensive.
I'll also follow this up with the obligatory "get your eyes checked" message -- you might have issues with eye coordination or other muscle strain that should be addressed with something other than reading glasses. Plus, if you're young enough to be a student, it's possible your provincial health plan will pay for the exam (with a valid health card) anyways.

I am taking the lowest dose they make of this stuff. So far, my vision has deteriorated from perfect to slightly blurred, forcing me to wear low magnification reading glasses. I have also experienced a slight difficulty balancing (I am also taking Cogentin to avoid another dystonic reaction)
I also have become much happier since I started taking it. Placebo effect--or just a good side effect? I am taking it to lessen my severe Tourette's tics.
Thanks!
First of all, there are over a dozen other medications to treat Tourette's Syndrome besides Haldol. You mentioned your tics are severe, so I assume that is why your doctor thought that Haldol was the best med for you. Please remember you have every right to discuss your concerns with your doctor. If he/she seems inflexible and not willing to entertain the idea of a different med, please remember you have a right to a 2nd (or 3rd) opinion. I had to fire loads of shrinks before I found the right one to treat me for major depression.
One of the most common side effects of Haldol is blurred vision. Haldol was approved in 1957 primarily for the treatment of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. It has secondary uses, including Tourette's Syndrome. In the last 50 years, many newer drugs can treat these conditions, often with fewer side effects. That's why I was surprised that Haldol was selected.
Look at the following link, particularly the section marked "Management."

The next link is about Haldol. Please don't let all the side effects scare you. Drug manufacturers are required by law to list every side effect ever found. I wish you the best.

Okay so I have a desk job and I am on my computer all day reading and typing etc and about 6 months ago I was getting sore, scratchy, irritated eyes so I went to the optometrist and he said my vision was fine and that it's probably just eye strain so he said unless I can stop looking at my computer so much that some low magnification glasses would reduce the strain...
I stopped wearing my glasses about 3 weeks ago because I noticed they were making my eyes bloodshot (all of a sudden) and sore after about 2 hours of wearing them so now I am not wearing glasses and I still get sore bloodshot eyes but it takes most of the working day before it gets to that so I think I am definitely better off without the glasses but my eyes still get sore and red...every single day! My boss must think I am on drugs because my eyes are always a bit red!
I am also supposed to be doing study after work but I really can't because my eyes are too sore to read or get on the computer!
Any ideas on what I should do? I don't think the optometrist is going to help because he didn't really identify any problems in the first place except for eye strain...
If I were you i wopuld definitly go back to the eye doctor and tell him all of this. Maybe theres another test he can do.
