Have a cataract in my right eye and the machine said - 9 optician would only prescribe -4 as he said anything else would cause double vision because my left is is almost perfect for distance and just needs a +3.75 for close - why can't my bad eye be corrected to -9 confused!
Sometimes, If the prescription is too different between the two eyes, the eyes cannot tolerate it, especially if the change is sudden. it affects your binocular vision and muscle balance and so will result in double vision. This is decided by the optician assessing how your muscles are working. Its possible that in your case, your eyes muscles cannot tolerate the full prescription, and so a compromise has to be given to prevent double vision.
With your sort of trouble, it might be wise for you to consider having a cataract operation, this will correct your prescription and get rid of the blur in that eye too, and it will balance the two eyes once more

I just asked a question about this and some people say that i should call the doc because it might be a sign of preeclampsia. Well my husband drove me to the grocery store here they have a blood pressure machine and it was actually low 101/65!!!!!! So what do you think that means?!
well for one, those machines dont work acuratly 100% of the time. I would say you still need to call your doctor, Like i said earlier, i would go into the hospital just to be sure... good job for trying to resolve this on your own though, I would still go seek medical advice on thsi one, your just to far along to be messing with this.... it could be so many other things... go call the doc hun!
Also start drinking water, a low blood pressure isnt good for baby or you right now...
I have been feeling very tired and week. I constantly need to lie down during day. I sleep for hours at night and still can't get up. I borrowed a blood pressure checking device and made notes of my bp each day. My diastolic BP is rarely above the 50s. I can have BP for the systolic reading at normal levels but diastolic always low and in mornings it all is low. I have bad visual disturbances but I have had my eyes checked and are ok. I feel sometimes as though I just can't focus and feel not with it at all. Yet, my vision gets really poor and washed out. I wonder what is going on. I had general health checks done and they are ok. No one has monitored my BP though until I used this machine as I just want to understand why I am nearly falling asleep at the wheel of my car some days. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
I am late 30s, male. I went through a lot of family stress over last few years. I started to put on weight even though I am not a big eater (was 81kg and now hovers at100kg) and lose a bit and put back on quickly with no great variation in diet.......I look very puffy in mornings and eyelids are constantly swollen. I was studying at uni this year but nothing I can think of that must be making me feel this way long term.
last 3 years but it has been bad lately. I fall asleep in chairs in middle of day and when I wake up room is flickering like mad and that takes awhile to subside.
Blood pressure varies from person to person and also during the day. Some people have a diastolic blood pressure on the lower side and it is perfectly normal. A diastolic blood pressure of 50 is fine as long as you do not have lightheadedness or dizziness. The other symptoms you are describing are unlikely to be related to the diastolic blood pressure. The visual symptoms you are describing are not related to a low diastolic pressure. Falling asleep while driving is unlikely to be related to your blood pressure, but certainly should be investigated. Make sure you are getting enough restful sleep. You may also be evaluated for sleep apnea, because daytime drowsiness is a sign of this. You should see your doctor about this. The other symptoms are minor, but falling asleep while driving is dangerous to you and others on the road. Good luck.

So today I was working out at the gym and i started feeling really sick, like I was about to throw up, so I got off of the machine and went to the bathroom. My heart was beating really fast and I started feeling really dizzy. I hadn't been working out that long though and definately not as hard as I usually do. After I thought my heart had slowed down I met up with my friend again and did some weights, after a few minutes though I started feeling dizzy again. I got really hot and I couldnt focus on anything. No matter how still I sat, I felt like I was about to faint or explode out of my body, then i puked. I felt alittle better after that except that it felt like my whole body had been thrown into ice water and then put in a room of cold wind. The gym worker thinks that I either worked myself to hard (which i know i didnt) or I had low blood sugar.
This has happened to me before though. I was working for my church at a fair and the same symptoms happened. I waited by a trash can until i thought i could walk again but then my vision blacked out and I had to have a friend help me to a seat before i fainted. After laying down for awhile, I felt perfectly fine. I thought it was just because of the heat but I wasnt hot at all today...
Should I be worried? I dont think its severe enough to see a doctor but I am scaring my best friend who has been with me both times... so i thought id see if anyone knew or had similar symptoms?
It indeed sounds like u need to see a doctor, they will do a fasting lab (blood) test to check ur glucose (sugar) metabolism. Do you eat? Are u overweight? Underweight?
Could be a heart issue, like a valve...
Do you drink? Drugs? Prescription or otherwise? Had BP checked during these events?
These are qxns ur provider will ask anyway...
LOS ANGELES — With authorities promising tighter borders, some farmers who rely on immigrant labor are eyeing an emerging generation of fruit-picking robots and high-tech tractors to do everything from pluck premium wine grapes to clean and core lettuce.
Such machines, now in various stages of development, could become essential for harvesting delicate fruits and vegetables that are still picked by hand.
"If we want to maintain our current agriculture here in California, that's where mechanization comes in," said Jack King, national affairs manager for the California Farm Bureau
"There's a lot of very nervous people out there in agriculture in terms of what's going to be available in the labor force," said Robert Wample, viticulture and enology program director at California State University, Fresno.
Mechanized picking wouldn't be new for some California crops such as canning tomatoes, low-grade wine grapes and nuts.
But the fresh produce that dominates the state's agricultural output — and that consumers expect to find unblemished in supermarkets — is too fragile to be picked by the machines now in use.
The new pickers rely on advances in computing power and hydraulics that can make robotic limbs and digits operate with near-human sensitivity. Modern imaging technology also enables the machines to recognize and sort fruits and vegetables of varying qualities.
"The technology is maturing just at the right time to allow us to do this kind of work economically," said Derek Morikawa, whose San Diego-based Vision Robotics has been working with the California Citrus Research Board and Washington State Apple Commission to develop a fruit picker.

All I know is I'd rather go for that than to keep listening to people claim certain jobs were "slave" labor. I remember when computers first came out.....they were afraid it would displace too many people and ended up it didn't. Computers were to erase the need for paper. LOL. Seems more jobs were created than what we lost. There are people still needed to fix the robots when they break down. They invented the cotton gin to replace slaves.....they are working.
What people don't get is there is always going to be rich and poor and what looks like perfect jobs and what looks like crap jobs. There is always going to be some jobs being paid more than others. Always going to be someone trying to make more money off the backs of someone else. Heck they can make movies without actors....create music without an instrument. We are all replaceable....but at what expense?

Epson Perfection V500 Office Color Scanner | Automatic Link ...
Overall I found the results of this scanner to be quite good. I had to play with the settings of the included scanning software quite a bit to get good results however.
The film scanning function works reasonably well but lacks the definition of a dedicated film scanner such as Nikon CoolScan (even at higher resolutions than the Nikon is capable of) — but these cost quite a bit more and don’t scan photographs. FYI: If you are interested in scanning your family photos you should scan film whenever possible.
My only gripe was the Epson software for OS X was a bit clunky — but in the end it got the job done.
About ten years ago I saw an ad for an HP scanner that said it could scan slides and I excitedly ordered it thinking I could unlock the viewing of my family’s 60+ yrs slide collection, most of which were shot, viewed & stored away before I was ever born, but once that scanner with the large triangle “slide viewer” (that didn’t work) got here I gave up on that hope and forgot about the whole slide thing…
