i had a lasek surgery about 3 years ago and my vision is not very good in low light and at night otherwise is good. is there any vitamins or something that could possibly improve my night vision?
No, it's not a vitamins or eye drops problem, I'm afraid.
A careful refraction might show a small residual Rx worth having at night, when your pupils are larger.
Any glasses should have an anti-reflective coating, but such a coating on zero-power glass will be of no benefit.
Sometimes a light yellow tint designed to cut-out blue wavelengths (which are more easily scattered) can be of benefit but, depending where you live, there may be restrictions on wearing tinted glasses for driving at night.

Ive heard that the compensated barrel just blinds the heck out of a person at night; however, other say that it is not that bad. What do you think. Is there any way to lower the flash on a compensated barrel? Finally, I have also been told that the gases are just horrible to stomach comming out of a compensated barrel, it that true? Of course, I looking at a compensated Glock 40 cal. not because I need the compensation, but because that is what is available right now.
Stand in a dim room and have someone take a picture of you with a camera using a flash. The flash exiting the ports of comp barrel "CAN" have a similar effect as the camera flash had on your vision.
Some powders have more flash than others. Reload, or try different ammo.
Have both Glocks and XD's. I like the tad shorter trigger reset of the glock, but the xd feel more natural in my hand. Not that it effects me, but seems to have less recoil, which may contribute to faster follow ups. May want to try a XD on for size.

Have you noticed, when you see in low light or almost total darkness, your vision is a bit "noisy", like a TV screen when not tuned to a channel?
What's the explanation for this?
The noisiness is always there, it's just a lot more noticeable when the light level is low.
It happens because light is made up of packets or particles of energy called photons, not a continuous stream of energy. These photons are emitted randomly by atoms, and they reach our eyes at irregular intervals. Our brains have a "sensitivity control" which adjusts according to how bright the light is, to enable us to see both the brightest and darkest objects in view. (You notice this when moving between bright and dark rooms, your eyes take a few seconds to adjust.) When the light level is low (only a few photons each second) the sensitivity control is set high; the distinction between dark and bright is then small enough for the arrival of individual photons to be noticeable. But when the light is bright (millions of millions of photons or more each second) the sensitivity control is set low, there's an enormous difference (in terms of number of photons) between what is bright and what is dark, so a few extra photons here and there doesn't get noticed.
It is like rolling dice. If you roll only a few dozen times you see a lot of variation (noise) in how many times each number is face up. But if you roll many millions of times, all 6 numbers seem to be face up the same number times - the differences are still there if you look closely, they're just insignificant compared to the totals.

We have a rotwhiler, who is around 12 years old. Last night, she had some trouble coming up our stairs to get on the landing to get to the bed (they have a couple of beds around the yard). We let her in, and she seemed fine. We helped her onto one of the beds last night, and she stayed there for the night. This morning, she was up and about as usual, Is it possible that she is losing vision in low light?
Thanks in advance!
Yes, it is possible her sight is going. They get Cataracts just like us humans, it can affect their sight in really bright lights also. Dogs cope very well even if they go totally blind. Our friend had a dog that was blind she got around the house perfectly and had the best sense of smell, she never had a problem smelling out her water dish and food bowl.
Your doing the right thing just guide her when she seems a little disorientated.

A pilot study of lighting and low vision in older people. - Evans ...
We investigated the influence of lighting on performance at activities of daily living in 24 older people with low vision from cataract and/or macular degeneration. Participants carried out four everyday tasks, each at three illuminances: 50 lux, 200 lux, and 800 lux. Both objective performance and subjective preference were recorded. Subjects tend to perform better under brighter conditions, but the average results masked large individual variations. Indeed, most participants showed a large effect of lighting on performance in at least one task, but the optimal light level varied idiosyncratically from one subject to another. The best approach to provide optimal lighting for older people with...
