low vision driving. what happens when u bring dl 62 form back?

well i have a visually impairment. i want to see if they give me a license or not. ok DMV SAYS

If you cannot meet the vision screening standard, you must have a minimum visual acuity in at least one eye better than 20/200 (best corrected). Visual acuity is a person’s ability to see items clearly and sharply and to recognize small detail. You may wear glasses or contact lenses to meet the minimum visual acuity standard but you cannot wear a bioptic telescopic or similar lens. DMV is not allowed to license drivers who do not meet the minimum visual acuity standard. (VC §12805
now i have 20/70 in both eyes corrected. is that gud enuff? an what do they look at the most? anyone whose done the dl 62 can u tell me ur experiences?

20/70 is better than 20/200 so I think you meet their standard. Standards vary from state to state, your eye doctor will know for sure if you meet the local standard -- ask when you take the form in to have it filled out.

Where can I find a list of low sodium/low cholesterol foods on the net? Some detail inside.?

These foods need to be obtainable from a major grocer (Alberson's Ralphs, Vons)

I need to lower cholesterol and salt on a fixed income. $62 a month for food. I do not qualify for food stamps.

I know about fresh friut and veggies, but is frozen healthier than canned? I have a vision impairment & often can not read labels.

If possible please name food brands, example: Healthy choice.

Honest answers please.

Thanks for the help.

There are very few things in cans, boxes or jars, that you can use..fresh is best, frozen is the next best...I have seen a few things in cans that are low in sodium,,,",no salt "veggies like tomatoes, you can find diced, stewed etc..,,,Hunts and Heinz has a no salt tomato ketchup,,,Del monte makes a few things in cans that say no salt..
.
Healty choice frozen dinners run around 500 mg of sodium..you don't say how much you can have but a low sodium diet is usually 1500mg..
Shredded wheat is a good choice for a cereal,,and you can buy plain flour and cornmeal and order no sodum baking powder and baking soda from Megaheart.com.......

You should try Also salt, It taste like regular salt. Not metalic liek most of the salt substitutes... I tried it on a sliced tomato and it was great....Alsosalt.com

You can get a low sodium ham, beef or chicken, redibase for gravies and soups from redibase.com.......since you can no longer have processed foods like ham, hot dogs, lunch meat, most cheeses....this base comes in handy to liven up soups, beans, green beans,,,etc...as for bread,,,there are some out there that are fairly low but you have to be careful....Walmart has low sodium bread...but making your own is easy and a lot cheaper...just use substitute salt for the salt and for quick breads,,use the low sodium baking powder and baking soda...
Try lemon juice, different vinegars,,spices to make up for the lack of taste.
It won't take long before you will prefer food with less salt....watch Mayo and mustard,,,,some are much lower than others. No olives, pickles, even salad dressing can be high..I find that oil and balsamic vinegar makes a good dressing..or sour cream,,mixed with a little mayo and garlic,,,is fine if you don't use too much..
There is no way around it,,you will have to cook from scratch a lot more than you did.....I hated it at first, but now I enjoy it. We are on low income too so I know it can be done,,,,Fresh veggie and fruit as you already know, potatoes, rice, pasta,,,make sure you don't buy chicken or turkey or pork that has been injected with salt,,they do that all the time,,,,buy store wrapped meat from the meat dept.....it is usally safe...
Good luck!

Blind spot in vision; it's either worse in right eye or only in right eye, but it's hard to even tell ?

33 YO male, maybe 15 lbs overweight. I have a blind spot one hour after being on the treadmill. I've had plenty of water. It's NOT a dark spot or blur in my eye; rather, it's as if the whole signal isn't getting from my eye to my brain---like it's not being processed correctly by my brain. It's hard to read and if I look at someone's face on the TV, it's as if I can't see the lower right quadrant of the face. It's worse than just peripheral vision impairment. I was also having trouble spelling for a minute until I really concentrated---I'm hoping that was just a symptom of panic over my eye.
This has happened to me ONCE before ever, for about half a day way back in 2005. A friend attributed it to dehydration. What the heck is wrong with me? Thanks.

Call an ophthalmologist RIGHT NOW and explain that it's an emergency. You need this checked out RIGHT NOW. Again, any sudden vision loss is an emergency. Do not take risks with your vision.

My child scored very low on CRCT - has IEP?

My first grade daughter scored a 40% on the math portion of a CRCT practice test. The real test is in 2 days. She has an IEP due to vision impairment, cerebral palsy and processing issues. She has slightly above average intelligence.

We have been questioning her math skills at several meeting and we have been reassured she is doing fine but we see a lack of knowledge at home during homework, etc. She has received all satisfactories or above all year on her progress reports and report cards. What can we do? As I said we have been questioning it all along during IEP meetings and they say nothing is wrong. Clearly something is wrong. We can't blame it on test anxiety because she scored very well on the reading portion of the practice CRCT.

Since she has an above average intelligence there is a definite discrepancy between performance and ability. The IEP team needs to meet and decide how to address this issue. I agree that there is something wrong. At the meeting I would ask the teacher why your daughter seems to have more success there but struggles with homework. Be assertive, do not just let them tell you she is smart. Ask for testing for learning disabilities. You did not mention that so I am assuming she has not been tested yet. She may nor may not have one but it is a good idea to rule it out. I am suspicious of a learning disability because her intelligence is not in question, she does well in reading, but struggles with math. Not only is she struggling with math, but according to the test, she is very below level. As a teacher, this would be a red flag to me that something is wrong. I am not sure how much you know about federal law but if a parent asks for their child to be tested, the school HAS to do it. Its not an option for them so if you have to push it, push it. Also, keep on them to help you discover the problem, especially if nothing shows up on the testing.

Good Luck and I hope everything gets better for you all!

Is 81 bpm normal for a 16 y/o girl?

I woke up this morning with this squiggly line impairing my vision, my mom said I needed to check my blood pressure next time I get out, so I counted my heartbeats per minute and got 81. Is that the cause of my vision impairment? and is that low or high for my age.

80 HB per minute is normal but that is not your blood pressure which should be done by someone who knows how to properly.

  • Art exhibit showcases art by visually impaired | Daily Titan

“Our goal is to feature the artist and show people the amazing talent they have and to show those with visual impairment are not limited just by their vision. In fact, some artists actually created their work after they lost their vision,” said Rebecca Kammer, associate professor and chief of the Low Vision Rehabilitation Department at the SCCO.

“For a lot of the artists, this is their first time having their art exhibited. They are super pumped about having their art displayed and educating people about their vision loss and how they were able to create it with that vision loss. I love to hear the buzz out here during the reception night and to hear the stories and hear them talk about their work,” Kammer said.
