I've got an unusual eye condition where my left eye is very longsighted and my right eye has perfect vision. And because of the huge difference between the two eyes I can't just get a prescription for my left eye, because my brain can't cope with the difference, and everything just seems a blur.
This means that my eyes strain a lot more easily than usual, and recently when I got an eye test at a glasses shop, they gave me glasses with prescriptions for both eyes so that they can "complement".
I'm just worried that the glasses will damage my good eye if I wear them. Should I wear the glasses or not? The only difference I'm noticing is that everything seems a bit bigger, but according to them it could relieve the strain on my eyes. I visited a proper optometrist not too long ago, and he didn't give me glasses because he says they wouldn't help much.
Any optometrists or other eye doctors who can give me some advice? Thanks so much!
By the way, I'm a teen, so my eyes aren't getting worse because I'm getting old.
If you wouldn't mind, can you please explain why?
I know this feeling. My right eye has normal vision and my left eye has moderate astigmatism. I was given an eyeglasses prescription when I was a little younger than you, however I did not start wearing corrective lenses regularly until I was in my 30s.
I had issues when I attempted to wear eyeglasses as teen. I would get dizzy and my vision appeared slanted. I gave up on wearing eyeglasses again until I started getting headaches and double vision.
My doctor recommended trying a contact lens for my left eye because there is less image distortion and objects appear closer to their actual size. I suggest you ask about a contact lens for the longsighted eye. It may be a better option than eyeglasses for your situation.
I suggest trying out the eyeglasses to see if they help you, you do not have to wear them all the time, but it would be a good idea to wear them for near work such as reading or using a computer. You should not harm your normal eye by using them.

I don't want my dog to take operation for low vision. If there is an item to help him to have good eyesight, I wanna get it for him. Tell me in detail, please. Thank you.
unfortunaly there is not glasses or contact lenses for dogs..
dogs can have vision problems, due to old age, Retnal problems,, or lens problems..
As far as surgery,,I assume because you mentioned it,, your dog has a form of cateracts? Cateracts in many cases can be corrected with surgery, the newer surgeries are quite effective.. although a bit expensive.. Cateracts comes in various forms (inherited) and also from several systemic issues.(diabeties). and can progress to the point of complete blindness, or poor vision and stay there,, some dogs never need the sugery, and ones that do loose complete vision, can often ajust and live a normal life.. so if you do surgery or not depends a lot on what you can afford,, how extensive the vision loss is, how quickly it progresses,, and how the dog adapts,, to the change.. if your dog has minimal vision imparment, It would not be a bad idea to wait and see, save up for the sugery if the dogs vision becomes such that he may adapt quite fine,, not loose complete vision and be a happy individual..
Rentnal problems,, unfortunaly are serious,, Most, cannot be corrected at this time, and sometimes lead to additional problems.. some are minor, and owners are completly unaware of them some progress to complete blindness..

My friend has very low vision, legally blind. She uses a magnifying glass now to look at her tiny phone, it is less than stellar for her for sure. wondering what kind of phones offer good technology , like a bit larger keypad and bigger screen with options to have bigger font. I know there's a blackberry one, but the data plan is pretty pricey.
Any help would be great thanks. Serious answers please.
My siblings & I felt that our parents should carry a cell phone (They were evacuated during a huge fire, & we didn't know whether they'd gotten out!) So, I did some searching, as Dad's eyes aren't what they used to be! This first one is what I recommended:

They only will use it for dire emergencies, but, they do go out & about still by themselves---So, it's good for them to carry whenever they do! I don't think he's really used it, but the one live link (above) seems to be to a happy customer's Best Answer!

I had surgury to correct a retnal detachment. Now I am Legally blind in that eye because of blurred vision. Can i be able to see better if I get a stronger perscription glasses? I wear glasses anyway.
If you had a retinal detachment, and the macula was off, and then the detachment was repaired...and now you can't see well even with the right Rx...this indicates that the macula, the center of the retina, was damaged. But....if you are relatively young (teens or early 20's or even just 20's or so) with time you can get a significant amount of vision back.
You'll find that the other eye, if it's good, will become the dominant eye. It won't work harder just because the other can't see well, but you'll depend on it for finer vision.
There are lots of low vision aids out there. They vary from simple magnification with large lenses, to special telescopes, to little cameras mounted to computer screens for reading, writing checks and stuff like that.
Legally blind means that the best corrected vision in that eye is 20/200 or worse. That means that a normal person would see a letter at 200 feet (smallest one he can make out) and you stand at the 20 foot range to see that same letter. He could see a little letter at 20 feet. That would be 20/20. A 20 foot letter at 20 feet.
The thing about low vision aids is that with the other eye being ok, you wouldn't tolerate using the aid for the bad eye very well.
Also, and this is probably the more important thing. Wear Glasses. Wear glasses not just to see better, but to protect that good eye. You don't want some stupid accident to hit your good eye and then after all is said and done, your bad eye is NOW your good eye. And for some reason, when people with one good eye hit themselves in the eye, they don't hit the bad one, they hit the good one. So glasses for you would be for safety.
Please suggest the Ayurvedic / Natural treatment of HYPEROPIA (far sight low vision) ?

Why Glasses Won't Help You See
What is the Macula?
The macula is the functional center of the retina. It measures only about 1.5 mm X 1.5 mm, yet it gives us all of the attributes of our “sight.” It provides us our best color vision, central sight for reading and watching TV and is the only part of the retina sensitive enough to “see” 20/20.
Will Glasses Work?If there is macular disease, such as diabetic retinopathy or macular degeneration, even properly measured glasses won’t work.
The vision is decreased due to the macular disease. It simply isn’t capable of “seeing” 20/20. The disease is preventing the retina from working to its full potential.
