Does anyone know a web-site making domain (think wordpress, blogspot, xanga, flickr and more) that is updated with blogs, video, pictures that can be decoded into the BrailleNote computer, and has options for low-vision to change to contrast? my friend is thinking of developing a new blogsite but is accessible to low-vision and blind people as well.
You shouldn't have to because all those options are all ready available under the Accessibility Options in the Control Panel.
If a person sets up to change the Contrast, Magification, Narrative etc then it doesn't matter what they are doing, either working off line or using sites on the the internet the computer's display and audio settings will remain the same.

A dioptric number and a magnification number are not the same thing. Diopter strength represents a specific magnification power (X). For example, a 5-diopter provides 2.5X magnification (at a distance of 8")
Available in multiple dioptric strengths that provide a specific magnification power (X), depending on the distance from the object (focal length)
Binocular headband magnifier provides hands-free magnification and viewing for a variety of applications, such as jewelry-making, watch-making, needlework, artwork, electronic inspection, book-reading, print inspection, and stamp-collecting
My roommate has really low vision and he would like to use the computer is there a software out there that will magnify the text other than settings on the computer to maximize the font of a web page. Please leave a link if possible.
Zoomtext is the best available magnifier. You can download and try it for free for 60 days at http://www.aisquared.com/
If he downloads it now, now would be a good time to start working on getting vocational rehab or the school's disability services to fund this for him.

I've noticed problems with my vision in low light conditions. Can it be that I use the computer for too many hours? I have a CRT graphics monitor (LCD was too bright for me) and I currently use some glasses with yellow lenses that are supposed to be for computer and night-driving. I have about 6 incisions per eye.
It could be. you might want to talk to your doctor about it. I would make sure to take breaks and use some good lubricating drops like Optive. It might just be driness from lack of blinking. Really.

Yes – I’ve used the Mac for hte past 8 years, with the magnifier, and I love it. It is very smooth & easy to control. The screen reader, VoiceOver, allows for single cursor navigation and that is very very nice. There’s no forms mode or anything, if you’re in an edit field, just start typing. It will even allow for audio setup, and the first time you power it up, a dialog comes up asking if you want to go through the tutorial. If yes, hit space, if not, hit V.
I have used OpenOffice for YEARS now on the PC. NEVER had a problem. i gave up on MS office LONG ago. As for PC accessibility – you have DesktopZoom (check out my video on it) which is better than ZoomText because it is easily portable, and it’s FREE, and highly customizable. You also have NVDA (I use it every day with zero problems). NVDA 2009.1 is better than JAWS because it’s free, easily portable, and HIGHLY customizable. Plus – I can buy SEVERAL PCs for the price of one Mac.
