I want to get lasik but Im afraid my vision isn't bad enough. I have -2.00 in both eyes and -.25 astigmatism. I wear contacts but i get sick of putting them in and taking them out everyday and not being able to fall asleep watching tv and not being able to see the clock when I wake up. Would I be a good candidate for it? I have still have to wait though b/c even though im old enough my eyes haven't stablized yet.
Your prescription is well within the range that they do LASIK on. Prescriptions like yours often yield the best results.

I'm 18, 5'11", 142 pounds and I'm a runner. My resting heart rate is around 52-68 and my blood pressure is anywhere from 140/70 to 160/80. My doctor said not to worry since my diastolic(?) is normal. It's not a matter of diet, exercise, or weight. What's causing this? I had some tests done and I have a large left ventrical. Apparantly thats nothing to worry about either..
Also, I get tunnel vision when I stand up, almost to the point where I pass out..I thought that would be more of a low bp sort of problem. Any advice would be much appreciated!
My parents have great blood pressure. Both are around 110/70
I don't know what's wrong, except that I DO think it's time to find another doctor. Passing out is NOT normal!

I have been to several doctors over the years and nobody can explain to me why I get "ghosting vision" and starbursts in medium to low lighting. Basically there are fainted images superimposed above and slightly to the left of the kitchen LED clock while I'm in dim lighting. I have never had lasik and my eyes are only relatively dry. I thought it may be astigmatism, but I just got new glasses that only helped a little bit. Do I need to request a topography to check out the surface of my eyes? I am sick of Md's telling me to try eye drops or telling me they don't know what is wrong with my eyes. Anybody else have had a similar experience or knows what I should do?
Funny you mention Mxsmanic about droopy eyes because it does press on the top of my eyes and cause some restriction or strain. I do see better with a pinhole affect and the most recent doctor told me was my cornea is "rough." I have also searched the net and have found nothing that coerrelates with my situation besides possibly Higher Order Abberations. However, my condition has gotten worse as I have gotten dryer eyes and more eye strain. I have tried eye drops and they did not illiminate the symptoms. My eyes don't seem dry enough all the time or fluctuate enough for me to suspect it to be only dry eye.
You don't say whether it's the same in both eyes, or only present when you use two eyes together: that would start to narrow the possible causes down.
Also whether effect was reduced when looking through a 1mm pinhole.
If due to an irregular cornal surface, the effect should be different in each eye, and be detectable by a topographic scan, though normal keratometry and slit-lamp examination with fluorescein will often show the problem.
If the difficulty is sited there, rigid gas permeable lenses offer an obvious possibility for relief.
If the problem is deeper in the cornea, or in the crystalline lens, or the retina, or neural processing, the RGP lenses won't help, but everything will depend on exact findings.
Normally I'd consider the front of the cornea the prime suspect, unless I could see a trace of cataract on ophthalmoscopy or retinoscopy, or a "wrinkle" in the retina at the macula.

it's creepy. i can turn out all my lights, cover my alarm clock, close my blinds, and still see enough to find my way around w/o tripping on things (well, no mroe than usual anyway).
I'm told most people can't see at all with this low light level. the only light i'm geting at all is a very small crack through my blinds...
does anyone know what causes good night vision? is it something how my eyes formed? Or am i just a freak of nature?(haha, okay, i am a freak, but is this just an add-on to freakyness?)
i am NOT a cat. i am a person...duh
this isn't polls and surverys, this is biology
er, no, my room is a freakin mess and nothngs consistant
ther r lot of reasons 4 that but 1 I can tell (coze of bio classes)is that in n eye there r 2 type of cells called rodes n cones rodes dectect light (likr colour)n cones work on the intencity of light(like bright n dim),so in ur case n mine 2 i think we got more cone cells then usual, which is not a bad thing ,n not freaky at all. :-)
I was placed on Citalopram because I was having a tough time, not massively depressed but some stresses at home that meant I had trouble coping and I was having anxiety symptoms. It started with a relatively low dose, 10mg, I had blurry vision for 2 weeks and day 14 like clock work I woke up and things were as clear as a bell. I feel fine, happy, back to work and definitely think they have helped calm me down but was increased to 20mg after 3 weeks which was always the Dr's plan. She reassures me this is still a low dose and now I feel a bit fuzzy again. Its ahrd to describe, my vision is a bit blurry again and I feel a little spaced out, Im hoping this is natural to citalopram, and was just looking for some reassurance that eventually it goes away??
Hopefully someone could help or suggest something?
Thanks very much,
Your body just has to adjust to the change in dosage. You have to give it some time, like 4-6 weeks, to get the full effect of the meds.
As for side effects with me, I mostly just had nausea, like terrible nausea, there's some days that I was absolutely terrified to take my pills. But after 4 weeks it went away. I also have trouble staying asleep, so I take Gravol before I go to sleep.

Low Vision Atomic Solar Wall Clock - Self Setting
This clock visually is nice with it's large numerals. I also like the seconds indication on it as well. I also like the fact that no batteries are required as it is solar powered. Having said that, the "Atomic Clock" function does not work and I had to hand-set it. It has gained about 10-15 seconds in a month. I have seen the same clock under another name for twice as much, so I'm not too displeased, otherwise I would have returned it. The unit is designed to use solar power for full operation. Integrated with the most advanced radio controlled time technology with automatic summer time adjustment, minimal attention of the unit is needed to keep the most accurate time. The unit works on receiving...
