I am visually impaired and 23 years old. I just want to talk to people who can understand what I am going through. So if anyone knows any support groups for the blind or visually impaired in Pensacola I would greatly appreciate the help. Thank you!
I would contact your ophthamologist or The Lions Club, one of them should be able to direct you to a support groups to meet your needs. My grampa used to volunteer with the Lions in the Lillian/ Elberta, AL area doing that kind of thing so it sound be the same in Pensacola. However, if neither of those turn up anything contact a school for the deaf and blind they will usually have support groups affliated with them.

Are there any support groups for the color blind (local/national)? What is the latest research information about color blindness? Who are the experts for research and diagnosis/treatment?
It is estimated that 8% of males and less than 1% of females have color vision problems. Most color vision problems are hereditary and already present at birth. Another cause for color vision deficiency is aging. The eye's clear lens can darken and yellow over time, which can cause older adults to have problems seeing dark colors. Certain medications or eye diseases can affect color vision.
Unfortunately, there is no cure for hereditary color vision deficiency. If you have color vision deficiency, it is possible for you to learn to recognize color by other means. Some people learn to tell colors apart by brightness or location. Also, there are specially tinted eyeglasses that may help you to tell certain colors apart.
If you are truly looking for a support group, I recommend that you contact your local "Eye Hospital or Eye Institute" and see what they offer.
Your local eye doctor should be able to offer more information on the specially tinted glasses etc...
Hi,
You've posted your question in the Garden and Landscape section. Are you looking for a gardening group for the almost blind in Bellflower?
If you're looking for a general support group that is specifically about blindness, you might want call the local hospitals and ask for the patient education department. They may offer something themselves or know of other community groups. I know that Kaiser has lots of different support groups that meet once a month to provide information on a specific topic from an expert then have an open forum for general support issues. I know they have groups for diabetes, heart conditions, cancer, etc.
Another option is to look for an online support group. You can go to http://groups.yahoo.com and check out the on-line support groups there for blindness and/or vision impairment.
Hope this info helps you!

In the hospital with excruciating pain and find this out!!! I was blind sided! So is there any support groups in Salisbury or Fruitland Md or how can I find out where is there support groups?
im sorry i dont know of any.. and i dont even know how you could find that information out. There most likely isnt though because most people dont like going to a clinic speaking to other is and around the area they live in because then everyone would know they have the virus.
I also have genital herpes.. && im truely sorry to hear about your diagnoses. Feel free to email me with any questions you may have i would love to help.
i am 18. i have had HSV-1 genital herpes for 2 years and occular herpes for almost a year. i know personally how physically and emotionally painful this virus can be. Plus on top of this diagnoses your probably worried about ever being in a sexual relationship again.. thinking who would want to be with someone with an incurable disease. But you would be surprised. I have experiences and stories i would love to share with you.
Hope ive helped =) good luck!

Blind help group plea for HQ cash
Lincoln and Lindsey Blind Society has set itself a target of raising the money by October this year.
The charity, which offers support and advice to people suffering with blindness and visual impairments, moved into a new building in Sadler Road, Lincoln, at the beginning of October.
This followed a spate of break-ins at its previous base in Boundary Road.
But the organisation is having to rent the centre at a cost of nearly £20,000 a year until they have enough cash to buy it.
Fund-raising and volunteers manager Julie Baines said: "It's almost as if it's money down the drain.
