Stick For The Blind

Is there a name for the stick that blind people carry with them when they walk around to feel their surroundings? Thanks. :)

i want to leave up the blinds, just add curtains over them. the blinds stick out about 5 inches. i want to be able to pull the curtains all the way around so that it closes off that gap so no one can see in.

what stores sell stuff for this? not bed bath & beyond..their hardware only extends to 4".

from the surface of your wall you say you need 5" and the hardware available is only 4". what you must do is add something to the surface of the wall at the spot where the hardware is to be mounted that will extend the available hardware at least 1". a block of 2" x 4" is customarily 1.5" thick and can be mounted with a butterfly anchor if you cannot catch a stud and this would give you an extra .5" clearance. if you paint the block the same color as the wall and then mount the curtain/drape hardware close to the outside of the spacer block along with sufficient ruffle above the rod the mounting/spacer block should be almost invisible. tada!

Ex: lowest prices: rice paper/match stick blinds/aka shoji blinds. Shopping/and reg. search engines repeat results and/or sell the first search results. Is there a site where perhaps there are several good drop down lists so that one could narrow their search via "combos" of price, reviews, s/h, location, etc.? I'd pay a fee for such an honest site.
Am I alone in being unable to locate this shopping search engine? The present search engines, from Yahoo to Shop.com do not function well for the shopper. Nor do all the search engine "tips" help me find needed results. Yahoo would do well to tweek their Shopping search engine, where drop down lists are more functional and such "combos" possible for shopping. ("Relevancy," as a drop down choice, always boggles my mind as it never functions well.)
Reality check: Am I dumb?
The web seems limitless while the hours of my life are not.
(FlamingoWorld does appear to give more results, fast, does not seem to repeat results.) Please share..

Hi all,

I've got a rectangular window with venetian blinds over it in my bedroom. I don't need the light and the colour of hte blinds doesn't go with my colour scheme, so i was wondering whether it would be possible to put something like a painting over this? Would the blinds stick out too much to put anything over it? Has anyone tried to do anything like this?

Any creative ideas as how to solve this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time!

I hate those frameless mirrors attached to the wall that they put in the bathrooms in houses nowadays. Sooo, I bought a framed mirror the same size (including the frame) as existing mirror and hung it right over the mirror. When I moved, I just took the framed mirror with me.

I think that if your window is a reasonable size, you could find a picture a little bigger than the window and hang it right over the window to hide it altogether.

If you found a picture that was stretched on canvas with a wooden frame behind it, it would be even better. You would have about 1 to 1-1/2" behind the picture to work with. If you got one slightly larger than the window, including the window trim and windowsill, you could just put the frame of the canvas right over the whole window trim and all. You'd never know the window was back there. When you move, just take the picture with you.

I always do stuff like this. Try it, I'll bet it will work!!

I am 18 years old and I want to change my room. I alday painted it purple but it still looks mostly the way it did when I was little. My celing is white as is my bunk bed,dresser and and book shelves so that's kinda fine. But I for the windows I only have stick blinds that my cats use to climb up as the top bunk.(my room doubles as a guest room) But anyway I was thinking on putting hooks on my cieling and then hanging scares form them to cover the ceiling color I already got permisoins. I like Bright or kinda light colors(but not pastle) for like all the rainbow colors. I love fairies and all that. I want my room to look like you just walked into a fairytale or a tent that little kids used to make as a child. I was also going to hang lights that look like little lamps from the cirling. what do you think Also I would like cool and unigue ieda's for this
Oh yeah the room I have is like middum-ish but at the same time small becuase the bunk bed is so big. If i could figure out hot to make the bed turn into a couch my room woulg be bigger
