I am a computer techie since 1994. I can build PCs blind folded with the flu. But I've never played video games except on consoles (xBox, PS2, etc.) But I really like how the graphics look on PCs compared to consoles.
I'm thinking of buying a cheap P4 PC just for video games, compared to a PS3. I'm wondering what's more important: a faster processor with an ok video card, or an ok cpu with a high end video card?
In other words, am I ok with a P4 2.4ghz cpu using a 256/512mb video card, or do I need at least a P4 3.0 ghz running a 256meg video card to run the latest video games for 2006?
Thanks
If you want a PC for games you need a real top of the line PC otherwise in a years time the new games won't run on it. Its very much a trade off because you need a fast processor to make the game run smoothly, but you need a graphics card to make it run at all (if its a new game)
My advice would be just get a console. PC's are great for gaming but can be really expensive to constantly upgrade in order to keep up with the gaming market.
If you still want to use a PC for games anyway then I recommend a better graphics card and a lesser processor.
It's politically incorrect to attack "diversity" in any of its guises. If one utters a statement which is un-PC (true though it may be), all hell breaks loose.
How can the PC police not realize Islam is incompatible with Western culture? Muslims do not believe in such things as freedom of expression (think Muhammad cartoons), freedom of religion (if the person in question is a non-Muslim or "infidel"), or freedom in general (ie. life in Saudi Arabia).
When they come here, Muslims are not interested in assimilating into our culture. They want us to adapt to them. They do not want to be peaceful neighbors. They want us either praying to the East or dead.
Isn't it time for the PC crowd to take off their blinders when it comes to Muslims and Islam?
Timothy: Poor you! How terrible to have to actually answer your door and say, "No, thank you." Were the victims of 9/11 given the chance to say, "No, thank you"?
this is very simple to explain. the media is the worst about being PC so they hide all the instances in how they are trying to circumvent our rules. The media cant show the instances that prove they will not assimilate.

Correct size "spotter" can be used in threaded, drilled or reamed holes.

I had bought a LCD/TV monitor for my Computer tower last week and now I have just realised that my monitor will not show any image on my PC due to my high resolution monitor 1440 X 900 being incompatible with the low resolution settings on my PC.
A message appears on the screen telling me that the high resolution cannot be shown due to the settings on my PC, I've also attempted to use another LCD monitor to check whether my new monitor was the cause of the problem but a different monitor showed a similar message.
I don't know what to do right now because I cannot access my PC settings blind without a compatible monitor.
Does anybody know whether it is possible to change the settings by using keyboard prompts/mouse or by getting to the control panel by a series of memory arrow key presses?
Would it be possible to use my laptop as a monitor by hooking it up with my PC tower provided that my laptop resolution is compatible?
My PC tower is windows NT 2000.
You will have to try to boot up in safe mode by pressing F8 when the computer starts up and check if you can see anything on the monitor. If you still can't see anything then is more likely a hardware issue. In safe mode only the minimum display driver is loaded and you should see in a very low resolution. If in safe mode you see your desktop then try to install a updated driver for the video card.
Hope this helps
Title says it all,can i get blind for looking using a PC-looking at the screen too much?
Thanks.
short answer, no.
long answer, enjoy:
There are many ways that a person can go blind. There could be a problem with the nerve, with the retina, with the lense - etc.
You can technically go blind at any time randomly - but it likely.
Going blind from staring at a pc is just as likely as going blind from staring at anything.
So, if you are looking for a reason to go against someones statement of something along the lines of "Get off the computer, you will go blind. Go read a book instead". Then, you have nothing to worry about. The electromagnetic radiation that comes out of your monitor is not any more harmful (but any significant %) than the light coming off of daily items.
Staring at a source of light that is very bright can damage your retina - that is why you should stare into the sun. However, unless your monitor is really bright like a lightbulb, your retina is safe.
When you look at various objects, to focus, many different muscles in you eyes move. They move to bend you lens into a proper shape, they move to change your pupil size to let the correct amount of light in.
So, while you may not go blind, something can occur from the over usage of these muscles. For example, sometimes, people say, don't look at your monitor in the dark. In this case, as you look around your monitor, your pupil will change size a lot, and it can get tired. The chance of your pupil getting overworked is very little and is just as likely as damaging any other muscle (you will easily feel strain and fatigue way before any damage gets done and way way before any irreversible damage gets done). Another reason this is bad, and this applies more to reading a book without enough light, is that you can similarly overwork the muscle that moves the lens. Your retina consists of mainly two different optical cells generally called rods and cones. The rods are sensitive for darkness, and the cones are sensitive for light. There are more cones near the middle of your retina where there is the highest density of cells, and there are more rods elsewhere - both cells getting less and less as you approach the periphery, where there is a small jump in rods (for nighttime peripheral vision so that u don't get attacked). Also, rods are bigger than cones so they provide worse resolution. This means, that when it is dark, if you try to do something that requires a high resolution image - such as reading a book - then your brain will not be happy with what information your rods are providing. Your brain will then send a signal to the eye to try to focus better (as an image from rods feels to the brain like an unfocused image from cones). So, when reading a book in the darkness, your lens and the muscle the moves it will keep moving back and forth. We are generally very malleable organisms, but to everything there is some sort of lifespan. So, the more you work your lens, the sooner it will fail you. However, you won't go blind from this, you will experience out of focus vision (correctable by eye wear), before you go blind.
There are two more aspects. As you may know, if you sit still for a long long time, when you do finally get up, it will be a bit harder. It is sort of the same for everything - when stuff stops moving much, it tends to get less fluids running through it, and tend to dry up a bit, which will take away from its lifespan as mentioned above. Again, you will lose focus before blindness, and this can be easily avoided by just looking away from any object you've been staring at for a while. (as in, after 1 hour or less of staring at the screen, look at your hands, then look at a far wall, then look out the window, and continue)
The only thing remaining is that fact that our eyes are generally relaxed when looking at objects 2 or more meters/yards away from us. When you look at something closer, you apply strain to your eye. Again, our body repairs itself and gets stronger, so this isn't really a problem, unless you regularly look at close objects (such as a diamond cutter).
So, you aren't going to go blind from over-usage of your pc - however, people have died from playing too much Starcraft (generally for reasons like not eating or drinking, etc). So, outside ridiculous situations, you will be fine.
Its not like your are straining your eyes looking for the keyboards keys or the buttons on the remote.
Blind? I doubt it. But it could cause eye damage. Sitting too close to a CRT TV or PC subjects your eyes to a bombarding of xrays. An old CRT anything is a glass pyramid. One side is coated with phosphor, and an electron gun is located opposite the phosphor. A TV/PC signal is sent to the gun, which shoots electrons at the screen. Electrons are propelled from a 5,000 V flyback transformer. When the electrons strike the screen, xray emission occurs. Sitting too close heightens the damage. You can move back from a TV, but you have to sit close to a PC. You can either buy an emission shield (for around $50), or replace the CRT with a flat screen LCD.

The Blind Side – Film Review by Robert Henderson « The Libertarian ...
There is none so blind that can PeeCee.
The Blind Side
128 minutes
Main cast: Sandra Bullock, Quinton Aaron, Tim McGraw, Kathy |Bates, Jae Head, Lily Collins
Director John Lee Hancock
If you require a primer on the white liberal mentality in general and their perception of blacks in particular this is your film,
“The blind Side” ploughs the same rescuing-the-black-underclass furrow as “Precious” . But where “Precious” depicts the central character in the context of her day-to-day ghetto life and allows her to have some distinctly rough and unappealing edges, her equivalent in “The Blind Side” is a paragon, albeit one so bloodless as to be next to transparent. , Both films are fairy stories: “Precious” is one by the Brothers Grimm, “The Blind Side” a white liberal version of “And they all lived happily ever after”.
