help me pls on gp compre passage(:?

any tips for how to score in gp compre passages other than reading more?cause sometimes i cant really understand the language and style of writing the authors use. like for eg, how do u decipher the meaning of certain figurative language?
look at this para: today, many of our educationalinstituitions may become too large and too impersonal. if only we could have in each apartment block leisure time activities for 8-15 year olds. without these small islands of intimacy,of privacy, of the fanciful children's world, our schs and apt blocks are becoming large FACELESS FACTORIES out of which no individuals can emerge, only the mass blind and brutal.
q: wad does the writer mean by FACELESS FACTORIES?
hmmm, my guess is, a place where the unfeeling people are bred, with no identity. but i got no marks for tat. i got an idea that faceless implies no identity.but i dun get why they use the word factories. a place where u manufacture?sounds unapt for this context. help me pls(:thanks.

You are right. Faceless does imply no identity. After all, how do we determine who someone is? We either look at their face which has distinct features or, perhaps, listen to their voice. So, you had the first part down, lack of identity.

The second part, factories, implies mass production of exactly the same item.

So what the author is trying say is the type of education and housing he (or she) is describing is not good for turning out educated individuals, but a large numbers of people who are exactly the same with no individuality. By extension, he (or she) implies this is detrimental to the population as a whole.

"Blind and brutal" refers to the tendency of crowds to be easily stirred up to hatred and brutality.

For some excellent examples of this, look at Nazi Germany.

The bullying of young black men on Britain's streets?

A topic that deserves serious attention. It is an overlooked yet a very real form of bullying that occurs from the very organisations that are paid to protect every citizen within a society. It is a manner of conduct commonly implemented by authority figures that neglect correct conduct and statutory adherence in what are often acts of provocation and vengeance directed toward a select sector of society.

You may also request information on stop and search in the police station.

A bully is not always a direct tormentor. Bullying can take place in more subtle forms for example by councillors that neglect investment of the budget on reactive areas that include Education, The Creative Arts & Entertainment and of course Sport & Leisure. Wrongfully, that revenue is pumped into retribution establishments such as the police force, juvenile detention centres, and Britain's prisons.

Councillors can argue they aim to establish the cause of crime in certain areas by investment on the demographics of the constituency, and into the commercial sector to promote trade.

Does not sport & leisure and the arts and entertainment all contribute to the commercial sector?

While investment of the budget into local businesses may be favourable received by their local MP, it does not establish the important areas that are shown to decrease lack of mental stimulation and decrease idle pursuits...lol.

Financial support to young mothers can be compensated by investment into the natural attainers that aspire to more in life.
Thus fulfilling promises and dreams, and the potential of a mind deserves more attention than fulfilling stomachs.

Promoting activity for reactivity in constituents with a high crime rate should be top of the agenda.

Ignorance can not always serve as a blind-eye. Assuring the peace of mind of the electorate must truly receive precedence over assuring the financial prosperity of the constituent.
Doing so will offer a cost-effective as well as an emotional-effective solution to reducing crime at its roots cause – rather than continually punishing the same sector of society in order to acquire wealth.

A question in morality should not yield to material prosperity.

Abraham 6: 46
Culture is developed when an individual is able to appreciate him or herself and passes such states of self-realisation onto other beings baring similar self-appreciation.
In this way culture is not a momentarily disposition or a fulfilment based on artificial acquisition. Rather, it is an invaluable quality that one man hands to the next.

What are the true views on overseas call centres - are they a cheaper, effecient alternative?

im sure that the police , if thats who you are trying to have a go at know the type of people that commit crime, so that is who they are going to stop.

The benefits of flying to ones destination can be convent in many ways. For one, to fly on an airplane is quicker than driving, and can save on those long stressful hours of family feuds. Though flying is a joy in itself, one should not fly in the summer. The airport Terminals are crowed with various beings who cannot wait to get to their vacation spot. Secondly, with all the weather activity in the summer, flights get canceled left and right, making it nearly impossible for weary clans to escape to another world. To fly in the summer is both stressful and inconvent.

As multitudes of inhabitants and their luggage gather in a small area, the atmosphere at the airport can be very chaotic. Due to the minimum space, carless people often put their bulky luggage in the tiny aisles that are between the chairs, making it almost impossible to move. Candy-filled kids often run around restlessly with their travel-size toys, smashing in to the miss-placed luggage. Distracted parents try to get unfinished business done; blind as to what their offspring is doing. As it comes time to board the plane, everyone attempts to gather their relatives, re-organize their stuff, and rush to the gateway, as if the jet will leave without them. When all this anxiety adds up, one may need more than just a retreat to relieve it all.

Secondly, summertime seems to be the time of year when viscous storms pop up at any time, destroying whatever stands in their path. Anxious families wait impatiently for the speaker to announce when they can board the aircraft. Just as the man comes on the loudspeaker, their hearts leap for joy, until they hear the word “canceled.” People start to mutter with disappointment. Groups of individuals swarm the front desk and demand that they fix the problem. Mothers try to comfort their children after a clap of thunder fills the air. Random siblings find that their authorities are occupied and run off to entertain their selves. All the puzzlement forms into one confusing sound. Angry persons slowly realize that they need to postpone their plans. Eventually, worn out kin start to gather up their belongings, and trudge their way to the car, with the hope that tomorrow they will be on their way to leisure.

In the end, it is better to be stuck in a car for hours than to take to the sky in order to flee from reality in the sunny season. In addition, the time that everyone is together in the car does not have to be so bad. Instead, use the time to learn to get along with each other, instead of useless hours of arguments. One can also use the time to get a head start on their trip!

INDIANAPOLIS — Singer Elton John will headline a celebration of the life of Indiana AIDS victim Ryan White in an event benefiting the Indianapolis Children’s Museum and the singer’s AIDS foundation.

Museum officials announced Thursday that John will perform during the April 28 benefit at Butler University.

White was diagnosed with AIDS at age 13 after receiving a tainted transfusion of a blood-clotting agent. He died April 8, 1990, at age 18.

He became the public face of AIDS education as he fought to be allowed to attend school. He forged friendships with celebrities including John, who performed at his funeral.

White is featured prominently in the museum’s “Power of Children: Making a Difference” exhibit.
