Inclusion For The Blind

This is another statement against Christianity as a religion practiced by modern pharisees in traditional churches. Doctrine and legalism enslaved the christian communities throughout the centuries. Tied them tight with ropes of guilt.....I think they Crucified Christ all over again, this time in the name of Jesus.....
How many Christians Read do you think have the power to heal the blind and the sick? How many have the power to raise the dead? How many can pray with positive outcome? 5%? 10% 50%. Honestly, I don't think the church can claim even 1% power... then cities and towns- even countries would have been transformed by now....

if the gospel is not good news of great joy for all, then its not gospel,
the best news is irrelevant if you are excluded
I do not believe that all just automatically enjoy the benefit of the gospel, otherwise why do we still proclaim it, faith (the God-kind) only comes thru hearing the good news of the finished work of the cross

Great statement. I know you're right, but I have too many failures in my own life to be a witness to the good news.

The only purpose for the inclusion of all the miracles in the NT was to impress people. If physical proof is irrelevant to your faith, then why do so many believers glom on to the stories of Mary's/Jesus' face appearing in various food products and such?

Like any assertion about the nature of the world, Christian dogma needs physical confirmation. It just so happens that the "evidence" is a smattering of specious anecdotes. "Faith" is just where you hide when you cannot support your position.

It's not physics that impress, it's the stories where physics are defied that create such excitement in theists.
Too bad stories are just that, stories.

Approval.
The unfortunate strive for approval.
Banished from the comfort of inclusion,
And the safety of the known.
They are fallible, imperfect, and flawed.
But they do not belong.
They are free to think and be.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. government discriminates against blind people because American currency is not designed to be distinguishable to visually impaired people, a federal judge said on Tuesday.

U.S. District Judge James Robertson said the government needed to figure out a way to design and distribute currency that includes an element to help blind people tell the bills apart.

Robertson was ruling on a lawsuit filed by The American Council of the Blind against the U.S. Treasury Department. The council accused the department of violating the Rehabilitation Act, which was passed by Congress to ensure that people with disabilities can maximize their independence and "inclusion and integration into society."

"Of the more than 180 countries that issue paper currency, only the United States prints bills that are identical in size and color in all their denominations," Robinson wrote.

I am legally blind and I know that problem. I can never tell what bill I have and have to rely on the kindness of others to tell me the truth when I pay a bill or buy something. I have been ripped off before. I would love it if the money were easier to tell apart but it sounds like we would go through a lot of ex pence to get it done. I will just use my Debit card for now. Maybe that would be the best solution.

I was watching a program on the History channel recently about books not selected for inclusion in the New Testament. I was quite surprised to hear that one of these excluded Gospels described Jesus as a sometimes angry child who used his powers maliciously (blinded a man who made disparaging statements about Jesus' father's carpentry) Is there any truth to any of this?

Yes, there's truth in what you say. The Apochrypha is the "book" that collects some of the "lost" books of the bible. Actually, there was no bible per se for hundreds of years after the alleged start of the Xian religion. When the bible in its more-or-less current form was put together (the Catholic bible, that is), it was the result of an ideological committee meeting (at the request of an emperor) to decide what of the many books current in the religion should or should not be included. Those that is any way disparaged the view of Jesus they were trying to advance, or that contradicted their views, were banned as "heresies".

I remember reading the story to which you alluded. I can't remember the name of the book--there are many of them--but I also remember Jesus turning (or trying to turn) "enemies" into animals as a punishment for laughing at him (sort of like a little witch doctor). Go to the library and look up "Apochrypha". They should have books in any decent-sized library. Or just do a search on the word. My search results yielded over 8000 pages. You could start your research with those pages.
