If we truly want to promote "ABILITY" rather than "Disability" - then may be we should add more categories to different sports in the Paralympic games?
Such as.....
- Electric Wheelchair synchronised swimming
- Electric Wheelchair spring board diving
- Wheelchair ski jump (Winter Paralympic games)
- Blind ski jump (Winter Paralympic games)
- wheelchair steeple chase
- wheelchair hurdles
- Blind (or vitually impaired) skeet shooting
- Wheelchair madisons (like incycling - the one you give your team mate a push. Thanks to Jobees for this suggestion)
I posted this in the Sport>Olympics section of Yahoo!Answers and the majority of people haven't got a clue of what I was talking about (regarding disability issues, I mean)
I am posting it in this section - for people who understand disabilities issue. What do you think?
starwhitedwarf: Ski-ing for people in wheelchairs is possible. There are midified skis that are made for people who use a wheelchair. You sit in the "ski" and you also have two ski poles.
crabby_blindguy: It seems that the humour that was meant in this question has been lost. I mean... "electric wheelchair synchronised swimming"? Come on, visualise it and see how absurd that is. Don't take it so seriously! It was just some silly and funny ideas thrown around by a bunch of kids who have muscular dystrophy several years ago. I thought if they can laugh at themselves and see the funny side of disability then we (ordinary people) should also be able to do the same.

You can have a masquerade date dance..I just made it up lol.
Give girls numbers to pin on their clothes..or different color feathers then give guys the same thing. All randomized. Get everyone on the dance floor and have each person find their match. Start a dance contest, a couples dance contest. The best couple gets to be Masquerade King and Queen (Get crowns!) The best thing is no one can take off their masks, so the couples don't know who their partners are until the end of the dance.
We have 5 couples who have never met and we need some games to break the ice. Any ideas?

My grandfather became blind over a year ago and he used to enjoy playing board games with me when he could see. I couldn't find a good retailer that specializes in games like Scrabble, Monopoly, even a deck of cards for the blind. Any help would be great.
