I am building a new archery blind, and would like to make my own shoot-thru window covers. I have only been able to find replacement windows, which of course, do not meet my diminsions. If anyone knows the specifics on the type mesh used, so that I can a substitute, that would also be a huge help!

Die-cut 3-D leaf pattern
Blind Dimensions: 64" long and 27" tall
This blind will be large enough to sleep 3-4 as I prefer to be in place first thing and it is really remote and difficult to walk into before dark. There will be folding chairs and a cooler that stays there. Most the time it would be just me but I want to try filming and my son and daughter both are getting to the age they are ready to start shooting more than targets. primarly used for archery this blind will be used both summer and winter depending on the tags I get that year. There will be walls and a canvas top as I own a upholstery and canvas shop this is the easy part. I have 2 framers that will assist me in the frame. Here in Oregon it is legal to bait deer and elk also I have a real good area on private land to do this on. I just would like any input from expierenced hunters on any detail they could think of in advance. Like height? or what about when "nature calls" so they say. or any thing that comes to mind.
do you think I could get away with eating and drinking other than water?
My treestand / blind is 12 feet off the ground, it is 6'x8' and is 7' tall. the main legs are 16' treated 4x4's . the bottom is made from treated 2x8's . all the rest is made from rough cut 2x4's that were treated with Thompson water sealer. the side are 3/8 osb that was stained a dark brown and black. as a after thought I peeled some ceder logs and took the bark and flattened it and dried it for a few days and used this as a vertical siding ( up and down ) . I pre fabed the the blind at home and put it together there with screws just to make sure it will work out ok.
the windows are not store bought, I made my windows , the front has 2 windows that are good size, Im not really worried about losing heat when a nice deer comes along. the side also have windows. the size of windows are up too you to decide.....The wall are insulated with 2" extruded Styrofoam and covered over by a thin paneling that has a wild life theme . I also have canvas curtains there to put over any window if the glare from the sun is too much. The roof is covered with rubber roofing.
the door entrance is in the back of it witch is nothing more than a ladder going up to a small plate form and door. I heat this with a propane Mr Heater that is wall mounted and the tank is under the the blind on a shelf
When nature calls I have a 2" black hose that is run up the side of the blind and come in through the floor, Hey it works good. when it gets - 20 and snow is falling im not going outside,,,,,If I got to do the sit down thing ( crap) I just go back down the trail and go,,,,,,try to not have this problem but when nature calls !!!!
After I had most all of it built a took it apart and moved it to its place of rest. once in sections, it was easy to put together and
with just a little help we were done in no time.
Let me know how it turns out...........

You guys are idiots i live in ontario and you can hunt small game with a pellet gun but it must be under 500fps. Thats not that powerful. you don't know what ur talking about ive bagged squirrels and even groundhogs with my pellet gun and its legal in ontario
For the individuals who posted the bit about not being able to use a pellet gun to hunt (due to them not having enough power or being legal)... Gamo, RWS, Crossman, Daisy, and other pellet gun manufacturers make guns specifically for that purpose. Typically these guns use .177 pellets at 1000+ fps (yielding 17.77+ ft. lbs. of energy) or .22 pellets at 800+ fps (21.32+ ft. lbs. of energy). These are entirely adequate and (unless prohibited by law in your state, so check your DNR) legal for use on small game such as doves, rabbits, squirrels, etc at ranges out to 30-40 yards. So unless your state explicitly bans the practice, pellet guns are legal for small game hunting.
As for large game hunting... There are legal issues with using pellet guns. Even then, there are a number of extremely high end airguns which use large diameter/very heavy pellets (in the .50 caliber range) such as the Quakenbush .458 LA Outlaw Air Rifle and .50 Bandit which match the performance of a .357 magnum revolver, capable of killing large game. That said for larger game like coyote, deer, hogs, bear..., I agree that firearms are more appropriate since they deliver more power. However for those wanting to try this, check with your local DNR and find out if its legal.

I'm new to bow hunting. I've been hunting with a .270 for about 15 years now. This year I decided to take up bow hunting. I'm going to be hunting out of a doghouse blind with "Shoot through" screens. I'm looking at a Bear Archery: Truth 2. The guy at BassPro advised me to buy the new "Black horse" model because it was flat black and said it would better hide my profile in the blind.
Is this the case or is he just trying to up-sale me a different bow? It is the exact same model as the Truth 2, just black.
The guy was repeating a sales pitch that bear archery makes to try and sell a few more bows. It matters very little inside the blind if the bow is camo or black. Buy what you wish.
