Braille Vision

I guess im going bilnd, my eye doctor not only said I cant get lasik now, but my vision is getting worse every year, now im at a -8.50 in both eyes. Are there any programs that will help me learn braille for free?

Unless you have a disased eye, there is no reason to go blind just from having a high prescription.

I have patients wearing - 18.00 and - 20.00 , and they aren't blind.

If you still have good vision with your glasses or contacts, there is no reason to believe you are going blind.

But with high myopia like you have, you should be checked often for signs of retinal problems.

You most likely see your eye Dr. every year or two, and that is something he surely checks for.

I don't know where you can get courses in braille, but you have lots of time to check it out...learning something new is always good, even when it will probably never be needed.

i dont see the reason for being on here for the points. i tend to find 'pissy little americans' quite amusing, and if nothing else, you can relatiate which is usually amusing =)

I was recently staring at the sun for hours when i heard this searing snapping sound and i lost my vision. I also smelt smoke but anyways does anyone know why i lost my vision because my family has had no history of vision impassiveness at all. Should i go to the doctor or just preform surgery on myself. The only way i am typing this is because my key board is in braille and i am a very fast learner so i learned it in one day

dear richard, the only thing for you to do is drink the ocean...i also suggest that you quit 'smoking' do you need an assistant if you do decide to perform surgery? best of luck

You shouldn't learn Braille online, since you need to practice feeling Braille on your fingertips. Try using a book to teach you, such as this one:

In your opinion, how do you think the Braille system helps the blind? I'm doing a survey on this topic and I want to know the benefits that the vision impaired receive from this system. If anyone can help me with any comments or experinces in which they know blind people who have had the opportunity to learn the Braille system. THANKS PEOPLES!

The Braile system allows vision impaired people to read. In other words, it benefits the blind in the same way that reading and writing benefits the sighted.

What kind of life would you have if you were unable to read?
