Duxbury Systems Braille Translation

An introduction to the braille translation products of Duxbury Systems, Inc.

Why don't all products carry Braille embossing?

I bought a new brand of bleach yesterday.
It had the word 'bleach' in braille on it, beside the barcode.

I looked it up in the dictionary to figure out what it was.
No other product in my bathroom had any embossing on it.
Now that I know the alphabet, it would be handy.

I have sometimes included shopping for my neighbours after eye operations, but now I'm thinking they only asked me for basics. What if they had preferred a choice? Another bossy neighbour offers, but I've heard him say "You don't want that, it's too expensive." and people decline his offer. I've heard them say "How much is it?" and him reply "Too much, you don't want to know."

If you have no choice about being blind, are you denied all other choices? Why doesn't every regular household product have embossed Braille labels as standard? How can they possibly choose? What if they would like to buy, say, condoms? Or anything more personal and yet normal? I would dread being dependent on how others feel.

Slowly but surely just like barcodes everything will have braille codes. Its going to take a while but it wioll be done. The trial lawyers have several class action lawsuits already about this.

Are the dots on glass jars Braille?

The majority of glass products have small raised circles along the lower front of the glass (pickles, instant coffee, jelly, etc). Each glass has a different pattern. Are these raised dots a form of Braille?

After looking at several glass jars....some have it...some don't....and each is different between the brands or food types or even jar sizes.

It is not braille for the blind. Braille is 6 dots in a square and as dots are removed is the text. These dots on the glass are all straight where Braille is not.

I would say it is a code for the glass company who makes the jars or what not. Since assembly lines are so computerized anymore I am sure its easier for a computer to feel or read a few bumps as a code over trying to read a 95 that is half melted together.

To those that say this is a stupid question:

You are the stupid ones. Do you think blind people just sit at home and wait for things to be brought to them? Do you think blind people just sit in a room all day doing nothing?

Braille is all around you ever day. At the ATM, in fast food, on elevator controls, street crossing buttons, restaurant menus, etc.

Why would it be so hard to think that someone got smart and put braille on glass jars so the blind could shop alone? Let alone be able to be at home and feel what name is on each jar before they cook?

The reason handicapped are handicapped is because of people thinking like you all do.

Mature some people.....its the adult thing to do.

Where can i buy a braille rubik's cube?

I live in austin texas and we got alot of blind and deaf people here. I just show off tricks like magic, comedy, and rubik's cube in the parks and stuff. Sadly no blind people can enjoy the rubik's cube! Just like no deaf people could enjoy stand up comedy until i learned sign language.

Some older blind guys have told me they have seen cubes with braille or other markings on them but i can't find a place to BUY them! Lots of videos with people solving them but none where i can buy them.

I use
http://www.maxiaids.com/
http://www.productsforthedeaf.com
http://www.braillebookstore.com/
for other products for blind and deaf people but can't find a rubik's cube anyplace!

I have attemped to make my own, and blind people get it, and like it but my little homemade things break down REAL fast.

So where at?

You can buy them from ebay for quite keep, keep up the good work!

why do they have braille on vending machines when the stock is changed so often?

with a different product!

didn't know that they did!! seems a bit stoopid.
