Why do they have braille bathroom signs? ?
Men in skirts?

Have you ever seen a blind person feel the wall around a bathroom door to find the sign to determine which bathroom was which?

Yes I have seen them do that, many times. So to answer your question, its for the visually impaired.

why do they have braille keyboards, is there a braille screen?

Oh, man. Some people just live to get offended by things.

I always wondered the same thing. Or why Burger King has a big sign that says, "Picture menus available on request". I mean, if you can't read, how're you going to read that to ask for one?

Slightly unrelated; I type at a blistering 102 WPM with a 0% error margin timed over three minutes using uncommon words. I use only my right forefinger, my left forefinger, my left middle finger, and my right thumb. Sometimes I will use my right ring finger to hit the Backspace key, and usually I use my right pinky to hit enter, but for the most part, I hit that speed with four digits, without even glancing at the keyboard and without using the indentions on the F and J keys to figure out where to place my fingers.

Play guitar, people; it has all kind of benefits you never expected.

Those signs are for people that are legally blind but not completely blind, they may be able to see well enough to make out the shape of a sign, but not well enough to make out what it says. So they use the braille to confirm what the sign says.

Good question! :)

Why do they have Braille dots on the bathrooms signs...?
High Accessibility Toilet

if the person is blind, how could they know to walk over to the precise spot where the sign is on the wall, and "read" the Braille? how would they find the spot where the sign is? someone could lead them over to the signs, but isn't it just easier for that someone to tell them which bathroom to go in, instead of having them read each braille sign?

they could. But maybe the person showing them the restroom cannot read.

Great observation dragonwing. The screen which give the information isn’t in braile, so how could a blind person read it without assistance, which makes the whole privacy idea pointless.

Also, whats the point for braile in "walk-up" ATMs? Sure you can use braile once you get to the machine, but a blind person isn’t going to be walking down the sidewalk and say, "Oh look! an ATM machine."
