Can blind people drive? because at the ATM drive through there are instructions in Braille and an audio button.
well the atm is on the drivers side so they couldn't be in the passenger seat.
Honestly, in this country, it's probably b/c if there's not, someone will scream" discrimination", sue and win.....completely ignoring the fact that it makes no logical sense to have it at a drive thru. If the passenger, blind or otherwise, needed the atm, they'd go to the walk up.

Each ATM I use has a different screen layout, and of course, no audio, so how is a blind person to determine which of the screen buttons to press?
That is what the Braille is for. I did always wonder why they put Braille on a drive up ATM though.
Okay - I think political correctness has gone waay too far with this one. There is a drive up ATM machine at a Chase bank that has an audio function for visually impaired people. It also has braille on it. Why would a visually impaired person be driving in the first place? Do you think this is just plain stupid and totally overboard like me?
Its probably a funny consequence of modern manufacturing efficiency. It makes a good joke. Observations like that are the stock in trade of many stand-up comedians.
It is probably cheaper to make all the keypads for ATM machines the same. Modern automated manufacturing can leave on an "extra" feature for less cost than changing tooling or set up to make some units different than others. Inventoring, shipping, etc all become simpler if you can make all your items the same. So, drive up, walk up, boat up, whatever, that brand of ATM probably always comes with braille.
Funny though. I've probably seen the same thing and never noticed it.

I mean how could you drive if you were blind anyway?
To avoid lawsuits most govt. issued pamphlets have to be "equal opportunity"
I am legally blind, but I can still read large print. I already get braille, large print, and audio books from my state library for the blind, but some books I can only get through Bookshare (a service for the blind and learning disabled that produces books in .xml and .html formats from scanned books). I hate reading books from Gutenberg and Bookshare on my desktop, and my laptop doesn't have that great of a battery life, so I am wondering if the Sony Reader might be a good portable option for me. I can read print that is at least 14 point, but prefer 16 or 18 if possible. How large is the large font size? Are there any add-on programs or hacks that can increase the font size beyond what the machine ships with? Is the digital paper display comfortable to read for long periods?
I have a sony reader and not only is it comfortable but also its zoom function is able to make huge sized font (20 or more) if the book is from a pdf format but with the ones you have I am unsure.
