Does anyone know about learning to read Braille?
market2

For my Senior Project next year, I'm interested in learning how to read Braille, but I want to take lessons for it, not one of those online programs where you teach yourself. Does anyone know how I might go about doing this? If it doesn't work out, I'm also interested in volunteering at a drug/alcohol rehab center. Is this possible? Would they accept teen volunteers? Any help is appreciated!

What do you know about Braille Printers?

Hey i've got an essay to do on braille printers and i need some info. could you please tell me if you know of any advantages and/or disadvantages and what they do/are used for

A Braille embosser is a printer, necessarily an impact printer, that renders text as Braille. Utilizing special translation software, a print document can be embossed with relative ease, making Braille production much more efficient and cost-effective.

Blind users tend to call other printers ink printers, to distinguish them from their Braille counterparts. This is often the case regardless of the type of printer being discussed.

As with ink printers, embossers come in all shapes and sizes, and are used by everyone from individual computer users to large corporations that produce books, magazines, and other widely distributed publications, requiring fast, high-volume embossing capabilities. Thus, an embosser can cost roughly anywhere from US$2,000 to $80,000, depending on the user's needs.

what r good websites to print stuff off of to learn braille?

I thought it would be cool to learn about it and to tell people that i actually know how to wright and read braille!

Personally, I think it'd be cooler to be able to use grammar correctly.

Braille essentially uses a system of bumps that correlate to numbers and letters. You'd have to be able to print off those bumps to know braille correctly.

You could just google the Braille alphabet and terms and print off those symbols. I think that would likely be easiest.

Why do they put Braille on the drive-through bank machines?

I know they've been like that for a long time but when i went to the drive through bank deposit today I stopped and thought about it
Like honestly? What were they thinking when they put them on in the first place?

They use the same keypads for dive up and walk up machines. It's cheaper than having two different kinds of keypads made.

What is the Braille code for electronics diagrams?

What is the Braille code for electronics diagrams? Can you give me a reference to look up specifics about the Braille code for electronics diagrams? Thank you.

There is a code for computer braille, and a standard for flow charts (for sale at http://www.brailleauthority.org/publ.htm l), however, electronics diagrams would be done as tactile graphics. There are links to a number of sources of information on tactile graphics at: http://www.tsbvi.edu/Education/tactile-g raphics.htm

  • Braille version of Harry Potter released for blind readers

So, it’s busy time at the Braille press. Punching, proofing and reprinting several hundred copies of the Harry Potter edition is not an easy thing to do. Once all this is complete, about 500 copies of 13-volume stack gets ready to be shipped out. The stack is more than a foot high. I am sure it’s been a long day for employees at the Braille Press. I think this is probably the first time I am actually hearing about the Braille version of Harry potter. The braille versions will have the same price tag as that of the non braille versions. They will be priced at little under 30 dollars which, the company thinks is nominal. Books like Harry Potter will hopefully increase the Braille customers.
