Who was Paul talking to in the book of Romans?
stevie wonder

Was it the Romans, the jews, the gentile christians or both the jews and the gentile christians. The reason for asking is because of the tone of the book which is a bit harsh and rebukes. and also included in this letter the laws of the old testament and the new testament and Jesus. It makes me wonder.

Paul was addressing the newly found "Christian Church" in Rome, and that church or congregation had a vast majority of Jews in it. In Fact, at that time they did not even call themselves Christians, and probably never thought of leaving the Jewish Religion.
They thought of themselves as "Enlightened Jews"....

What fantasy book would you recommend for a sixth-grade girl?
"Hello"...

She has to present a 'book talk' to the class in 1 month and I was wondering what book she should get. It has to be at least 200 pages long. She really likes the Harry Potter and Twilight series.

Any suggestions as to what she should get for the book report? Thanks in advance!
Actually, her teacher is already planning for everyone in her class to read "The Giver" later on in the year....

try James Patterson "Maximum Ride" series or Aiken's "Wolves of Willoughby Chase" series. I'm not sure how long they are. go to the public library and ask for help there. all the librarians would love to recommend books.

Are there any book clubs in houston tx?

I am 22, and i love to read, and talk about my books. I was wondering if anyone knew of any book clubs in the houston area... or how i would go about finding/ creating one. I love talking about books, but mostly i am just really looking to make friends. So clubs with younger women would be ideal.

This is a great website for finding any kind of interest club in any city:

I was just wondering and im not talking about childrens picture books im talking about books in series

Most publishers will not consider a YA novel under 50,000 words, or a novel for adult readers under about 55,000 words. For adult fiction, the genre determines word count.

Summarizing what agent Colleen Lindsay, blogging at http://theswivet.blogspot.com/2008/03/on -word-counts-and-novel-length.html , says about word counts: It’s all about the genre, often the subgenre.

YA Fiction: 50,000 - 80,000 words, rarely 90,000
Urban Fantasy: 80,000 - 90,000
Paranormal Romance: 80,000 - 90,000
Mysteries and Crime Fiction:
--Cozies 60,000 - 70,000;
--All others 80,000 - 100,000
Science fiction and Fantasy:
--Basic 100,000;
--Epic Fantasy 120,000 - 130,000
Mainstream fiction depends on subgenre.
--Chick Lit 60,000 - 80,000;
--Literary Fiction up to 120,000 but lately trends to much shorter;
--Thrillers 90,000 - 100,000;
--Historical Fiction to 140,000.

  • Cinemonkey: Book Review: Wonder Woman

    In the annals of popular culture there are many times when a reading public has been drawn to subject matter that for a long time escapes the attention of the pundits and intellectuals. Penny dreadfuls were mostly ignored by the cultural commentators, as were pulp magazines until decades later, where the contents were often reevaluated as "art." In Britain, George Orwell brought to light in a famous essay the crude sex comic books that entertained the working class. In the 1970s and 1980s women readers in America consumed romance novels outside the scrutiny of media watchdogs.

    Comics on the other hand were always high profile. Descendent from newspaper comic strips, which were already a national mania, comic books quickly became kids stuff, the source of concern from parents and societal watchdogs even as movie studios, especially Disney, and other businesses, hijacked them as a marketing adjunct. Yet within the comic book industry there were pockets of bizarre novelty and obsession.
