I am looking for a good, funny audio book that will entertain me while taking on a 2000 mile road trip. The narrator should be good - no annoying voice - I like Janet Evanovich, so something like that: a funny mystery with a touch of romance. Or maybe something like Stuart Woods. Any specific suggestions?
the Bubbles Yablonski mysteries by Sarah Strohmeyer
Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse are good
I haven't heard the Spellman Files read yet but those are good-- just two of them, though
Can You Keep A Secret by Sophie Kinsella-- not too much mystery but funny!
Excerpt from the end of 'On the Road' read by Matt Dillon with pictures from the film production.
On a recent road trip, we listened to "Skipping Christmas," which is the novel that the movie "Christmas with the Kranks" was based on. We have 3 kids under the age of ten, and this book was perfect - no foul language, sex or violence, and it kept everyone entertained. Looking for something similar - and also contemporary. Can anyone suggest a good title or two?
Eragon or Harry Potter
I need a book on tape because i drive 6 hours to work every day. It helps me relax on the road. I like audio books that are suspenseful, maybe mystery genre, and of course, interesting. Books that i enjoy are books that involve investigations like CSI, and things like that. If someone can help me with this, i will give 10 points to the person with the best answer. Thanks!
Why not go to your local library and see what they have, where I live they have a huge selection....
I travel to one of 13 offices every day for my job - they're anywhere from 1-2 hrs away - and I get soooo bored driving, it's like I'm motivated all the time to work on a project or DO something. If you know of any good audio-books... nothing like a novel or a story, but just SOMETHING.
Honestly, I listen to talk radio, Rush Limbaugh, Dr. Laura, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilley. Usually there's something interesting on, beats listening to music endlessly....
OR
I listen to the scriptures (I'm LDS so I listen to the Bible and the Book of Mormon) on audio or talks from church leaders...
OR
I pray out loud
An Audio book? I enjoyed the book 1984. A classic. Quite applicable to our day....
My fathers birthday is next week and he loves listening to audio books because he spends alot of time on the road with his job. He's not really into music cd's but loves the audiobook "the boy in the striped pjames". I need another audiobook along those lines or something to do with military storylines.
Can anyone help me please? :)
"The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak is a very similar book. It's pretty much about the same thing (Nazi Germany through innocent eyes) although this book is narrated by Death. I haven't read it yet (it's on my summer reading list!) but like "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" it's had lots of awards thrown at it. Looks very interesting.
If you can't find or get hold of this one, I'd recommend "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time". I just finished listening to this audiobook (I too listen to audiobooks on long journeys) and it was brilliant. Like "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" it looks at life through innocent eyes. "The Curious Incident...", though, is written from the point of view of a boy with autism. It's really amazing - a summary can't do it justice - and its also a children's book but one that can only be fully appreciated by adults (like "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas"). I really recommend it - even if it doesn't sound like the kind of thing he'd like (it didn't sound too appealing to me to start with) he'll probably really like it, it's an amazing book. And the audiobook is recorded/performed really well.
Why not get him both?!?! Lol.
