Some good audio books?

I last downloaded 'Stephen Kings - The Mist'. An audio book, i ve never read/heard of these kind of books. But i really liked it on my mp3.

This book had people screaming in the background and all these sounds that yu also hear in a movie. But without the screen.

Can you guys recommend me some good audiobooks, with special sounds and stuff?

Thanks for reading this! =)

Most of the audio books I have heard (probably over 150) don't have sound effects, but most have the narrators doing character voices and some have some intro/exit music on each tape or disc.

Some of the books that do have sound effects are the audio versions of Star Trek and Star Wars books, especially the NPR Radio broadcasts of the three original movies, which are quite entertaining to listen to and feature a little more of the story than is shown in the movie.

The Harry Potter books and the Discworld books of Terry Pratchett also feature excellent audio versions with very talented narrators. Jim Dale, the narrator of the Harry Potter books is probably the best performer of all the books I have heard. Some of the Discworld stories also feature versions that were done for BBC radio, and feature cast recordings, and are quite well done, though are abridged versions of the books.

Am I the only one who was enraged at the ending of The Mist?

The ending to that movie was the worst I've ever seen. In the audio and the book, the five or six people make it to a hotel and that's it. Not a happy ending. In horror, it doesn't have to be nice and prejedice and prevailing. I understand that. In the movie, David Drayton shoots his son and the rest of them and goes to sacrifice himself to the monsters only to see the army tanks coming along with survivors and the mist gone. He falls to his knees and goes mad. That isn't the ending I was led to believe would be there. Night of the Living Dead ended like that, and people didn't get half as mad as the people in the theater did tonight. I guarantee you this movie will bomb and will be boycotted in many homes. They had better do an alternate ending to it when it gets to DVD. Frank Darabont did good with Green Mile and Shawshank, and he had to have known better than to do this. My family are upset thoroughly. I expected a good time at the movies, and it was headed that way. Wrong.

It may not seem like it but getting an ending you weren't expecting is a good thing. Face it too much of what is being released today is predictable. You may not have liked how it ended but you have to concede it was different. Not everything requires a happy ending, if you've read even half of Stephen Kings stuff you'd know that.

Every character he plays, and he's unrecognizable at first...the subtext during the "consequences of ruling through fear" conversation made me want to stand and applaud...you may want to smack Marcia Gay Harden in real life because of her perfect Mrs. Carmody (but don't)...I was disappointed by no King cameo...CG was top-notch...Toby Jones as "Ollie" deserves to be the next big action hero...make sure your date doesn't eat popcorn with too much butter on an empty stomach like mine did.
