I have to do a huge report and I'm chosing the topic of talking/texting while driving. I need sources so does anyone know a book about this topic?

I don't know about books that talk about cell phones while driving, but because there have been tragic deaths due to cell phone or texting use while driving, there are some cities or states that are making laws against the use of these devices while operating a vehicle.

verizon carries a contact list online, but when I port my number, I am afraid I wont be able to access it. I have about 300 numbers in phone book (contacts).

if you have the contacts on your verizon phone, you will be able to view them after the phone is deactivated. if its online only then you should be able to call verizon and they should be able to access it.
