My visually challenged friend has lots of books on cassette tape, but is wondering if life would be easier if she could have them on her mp3 player. I can do the Computer-Player leg, but how do I deal with tapes? Anyone....Please?
Programs like Nero Wave Editor will convert a audio feed into an MP3 file. Creative Labs makes a USB external sound card to connect your computer to your home stereo using RCA plugs. You can then hook your computer to your stereo like a second tape deck.
This video shows the commonly used Talking Book Cassette Player from the Library of Congress, plus the tapes that are used with it.
Since I was very small I have listened to audio cassettes on my tape/ cd player. I can go to sleep without them on but I feel uncomfortable. How can I stop?
a nice tot of whiskey or bourbon
There is this pastor that used to talk on the Houston AM radio stations i think his name was Robert Moore I can't remember his name, but he has these cassettes/cds out that talk about how partners should treat one another. Unending love, or Love is a rose I can't remember the name of the book/cd's They talked about how your wife was like a rose and how she would wilt if her husband didn't care for her....does anyone know what i am talking about...The arthur came to 1st baptist as a speaker a few years ago...Brown...or Moore...i just can't remember
Try a religious book store. They'd be able to help you.
Remember talking books you could get on cassette is there anywhere on the net you can download something similar? To your mp3/4player?
And for free?
Well, there are a lot of audio books out there (I get mine for free using Limewire).
They're books read out loud by a narrator. You can load them straight on to any MP3 player, or burn to a CD to listen in your car.
Ok back in the day me and my brother had this book w/ an audio cassette tape. i think it was called Dont Talk To Strangers. it was a white book with bright neon colors with different scenarios of kids not talking to strangers it also came with a whistle. It was like a hip hop ol school rap sing along. did or does anybody have it, know where i can find it, or any info. or were we the only ones that had it. this was like in the early 90's
and it wasnt like a big book it had maybe 8-10 pages thats it. i think the police dept may have sold them to parents for there kids to teach there kids about not talking to strangers
I would suggest ebay or if you have a Half Priced Books near you, you could try them.. they are awesome! I don't know how you would find out what the actual title is.

Jason Bitner on Cassette from My Ex; LaPorte, Indiana Documentary ...
O’Shea : Have you heard about any ex’s that have got back in contact with folks after reading about their own mixtapes in the book (or on the website)?
Bitner : I’ve heard from a handful of the contributors that they’d been back in touch with the creators of the tapes, yes. But I haven’t yet heard of old flames reuniting for a second go at the relationship. At best, I suspect that a bunch are now Facebook friends. That’s how we roll these days.
O’Shea : Do you think this project can appeal to today’s teens who are swimming in digital waters or folks born before the late 1960s (if we consider the mixtape generation to be born between 1968-1985)?
