Story Of The World Audio Book

World War 2 audio book for?

We are going to take a long trip from Texas to Montana, I'm trying to come up with a couple of audio books to entertain the boys, ages 10-15. They are interested in stories about WW2 (and other historic wars) I want something that would enthrall them. Fiction or non fiction, it doesn't matter. Any suggestions?

Here are a few titles I found available in audiobook versions:

The Great Escape by Paul Brickhill
Going Solo by Roald Dahl
Summer of My German Soldier by Bette Greene

For non fiction, I would recommend D-Day or Band of Brothers by Stephen Ambrose,

But some of these might be difficult to find or only available in cassette.

Has anyone ever heard of a children's audio book on cassette tape called "The Trumpa Tree"?

It's a narrated story about two children that get lost in an elaborate magical world inside a tree. I don't know if it was ever a printed story or if it's just on tape.

Enid Blyton wrote a number of stories about the 'Faraway Tree' sounds a similar kind of idea....

Don't know what to do with the future of this story? Help? Should it be a screenplay, book, tv show? ?

This story has been like 2 years in the making up till now i'm actually gathering info. to develop the story it is the story of a kid named "AJ" (pronouced age idk if thats how you would pronounce it) he has a twin sister, a brother and a family friend as Aj grows up to his late 14 yrs of age he begins to question certain things eventually becoming a philosopher i'll give him experiences that i myself have experienced as well as all my philosophical views, high school his wisdom increases slowly Aj begins to put the pharse "anything is possible" to the test what does Aj want to be u ask he'll be emperor of this world. he knows that his task will not be easy and that the world can't be a perfect place of harmony but he will try his best to keep the world stable enough to bring a sense of harmony, little does he know that he has powers. I wanna make this story as possible as the real world. setting will be our modern world, because this is a huge project of course they will be extra characters involved other than the 4 i just mentioned. i have gathered songs that helped me develop scenes for the story, i also manged to find a way on Microsoft Word to play audio clips of the characters, with music in the background, sound effects basically my own audiobook ...the story will have twists loops... mmm thats i all its midnight so sry if i didn't make certain things clear just e-mail me to clear things up b4 u comment and i'll leave you with a quote from Aj
"power can build or destroy, love can make u or break u, shit happens for a reason or not at all, ppl change or not at all, some understand some don't, (tsk) in my opinion everything is balanced nothing will outweigh the other and if so they try to outweigh one another 4 eternity" -Aj

Story idea and work on it seems interesting.
Can only think of one suggestion: put an 'e' after Aj (or Aaj?) unless you plan to write a 'sounds-like' after the first mention of the name.
As for what this ends out to be 'real time' that depends on how you ultimately see the finished product.
Most work shows itself at least by then to be screenplay, novel or TV show; sometimes all three though it can't be marketed as all three at once.

Once you complete all revisions, it would be best to get an agent in one or all fields (some know all of them). Getting an agent, if you have yet to publish anything, will take time. Suggest you read the first section of the current issue of The Writer's Market; study all aspects of it and you'll see what is involved with any type of publication in any field.

If you don't want to buy the book, you can copy relevant pages (quite a few) at a public library and/or study it there and make notes of what you need to know. The book is also online with all recent updates, but costs (very inexpensive) $3.99 a month to see it all. Take a look:

Fantasy Audio books suggestions?

For the past few months I have been enjoying the 3 Eragon books each night for an hour before going sleep. I am 14 chapters away until I am at the end of the 3rd book.

Now I would like to find a good audio book or 2 that I can listen to that will hopefully last me until the 4th and final book of the eragon series comes out.

I am looking for something like a story following a character either exploring their world or on an epic quest to save it.

As for the reader I would like someone with the similar style of reading to the person that reads the eragon books or the Harry Potter books.

A series would be nice but a single one would be welcome too.

Also please make sure I can buy it online in MP3 format.

Thanks
Sorry I should of added that Twilight never struck me as my kind of read. Its suppost to be romance and vampire or something like that right?

Never really looked into it just what I heard at random places about town so excuse me if im completly wrong.

I have been doing the same exact thing! with Eragon and all! I love listening to audio books. Here are some other amazing stories I have read and listened to.

-Artimis Foul series, a bit more si-fi but still great. GREAT.
-If you haven't read them there is always the amazing lord of the rings series.
-His Dark Matirals- Phillip Pullman (the golden compass, subtle knife, amber spyglass) <- I listened to all of those on tape
-Anne McCaffrey's "Dragonsong" trilogy
-Percy Jackson books
-Inkheart, Inkspell, and Inkdeath by corneila funke
-Lost Years of Merlin Series by T. A. Barron

I also have a great suggestion, you can check out books from the library in MP3 format. They are easy to download and you don't have to pay. Just go to the Seattle publilc Library homepage in the browse section click on digital books and media and then on OverDrive Digital Books & Media then you can look through the selection and check stuff out. You have to upload a program called overdrive media console but once it's figured out it's really simple.

How amazing are audio books/!?

Ok so i've never bothered with one before but i really wanted to read the twilight books.. to accurately know the story. But i have a couple of issues about reading the twilight books... first of all, i'm 25 and i'd feel really stupid to sit there and waste all the time that i don't have reading 4 novels.. and not just any novel... twilight, books that are ideally for teens. I used to be an avid reader but haven't read a book since i was like 19. Anyways i had run into the audio books on youtube a couple of times. I really wanted to listen to them but kept postponing it... until today that is!! I listened to 5 chapters of New Moon while cleaning. it was sooooooo easy and convenient and so freaking interesting. It made my whole day really. It was just so easy to multi task while being in bella's world. I like the character of bella.. reminds me of myself a lot. And i'm definitely in love with Edward :)
Also another thing great about the audio books... i like hearing the voice and the expressions in the voice. It helps the whole story come alive even more. Why do ppl even bother with books anymore?! I mean in this day and age with so much to do and so little time on our hands, it always amazes me how ppl will still sit there and read huge books.

I like audio books for cleaning, riding the bus (I get motion sickness when I read), and other boring activities, but its actually faster for me to read the book. If I'm just going to sit and enjoy, i'd rather read.

(And I'd get bored reading New Moon too...)
