How would you promote kids audio books online?
LeapFrog Tag Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends The Golden PaddleBall

I have done a number of things - Facebook groups/fans, Twitter, youtube vids http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TQGOhB1n Tk What other ways can I get parents to take a look? Thanks in advance!

You'll need a lot of money to put into e-marketing and advertising. Depending only for online sales might not work out the way you hope. The social networking sites you mentioned are great, but your problem is getting people to know your pages (and book) exists. That costs money to advertise and market toward your target market. Consider, also, getting physical audio copies of your book and physically selling them at places like fairs or wherever you can rent a booth and sell. Sell out of your trunk if you have to - you're more likely to make more money that way. Self-publishing presents many problems and adequate marketing, promotion, selling, and distribution are the main hurdles. Are you able to get into schools and talk to kids about your book? If you have a young child then speak with your kid's school to see if you can go there and guest speak and talk to the kids and promote your book, even give away a copy to a lucky winner. If you can get kids interested in your book then they'll bug their parents to buy it. There's nothing better than word of mouth. I don't know how it works with UK schools, but this can be done in USA schools. Just an option.

Target the kids, imo.

What Audio book is this?

I remember listening to this kids audio book, a long time ago atleast 7 years ago.

It was about two kids a sister and a brother, who want to a dude ranch or something like it and they went on a cow trail with an older gentle man and he told them about a ghost story. It was about a Bounty Hunter and an Outlaw, one of there names was Silver Dollar Dan but the other name escapes me. Another part of the ghost story was about the outlaw burying his treasure out in the desert somewhere.

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated, thanks for your time.... Steve

I've been beating my brain out over this one, but can not think of the name of the story. Try going to your public library and asking the reference desk if they have a resource that could help. They should have something.

My apologies for not having a better answer. This is the kind of thing I often know.

What kids book is this?

When I was little, I used to listen to audio books on cd constantly, one of the books I read has stuck to my mine for the past week and I forgot the title.

The book has something to do with wood chucks and a kid who they adopt.

the title goes something like
"lawrence the terrible"
or
"the terible trevor"

or something like that, please help!

Mean Margaret by Tor Seidler
Two woodchucks marry and welcome an abandoned toddler into their home where she creates havoc and is finally returned to her human family.

A fastidious woodchuck discovers parenthood to be worse than his wildest imaginings in this benign, if sardonic, animal tale from Seidler (The Wainscott Weasel, 1993, etc.). When Sally Hubble, a poster child for the ``terrible twos,'' is left in a ditch by three of her older siblings, the maternal instincts of Phoebe--the new wife of a woodchuck named Fred--are aroused despite the difference in species; soon the child, dubbed Margaret after Phoebe's mother, is ensconced in the once-spotless burrow, pulling apart glowworm lamps, smashing heirloom furniture, and greedily consuming all the honey, berries, and goat's milk the harried woodchucks can gather. Margaret grows at a great rate, and soon the family finds itself sharing a nearby cave with a squirrel, a skunk, two bats, and a snake, plus Phoebe's coquettish sister Babette and her three offspring. When at last Margaret makes the mistake of stomping on the skunk's tail, her reeking flight into the forest reunites her with her natural parents. Fred, whose relief at her flight is not entirely unmixed, realizes that his attitudes toward parenting have undergone a profound change when Phoebe shortly thereafter gives birth to little Patience. Chubby and disheveled, Margaret towers over her exhausted, dapper minions

ALA magazine "Booklist" called novel "George's Pond" a magnificent creation! But I cant find it in audio book.

I was looking for the audio book of "George's Pond" by Scott C. Waring, but is there a place i should be looking to find the audio book so my kids can listen to it when I travel back and forth everyday to drop them off at school, (30 min drive)? I dont know how to find it so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oddly, I do not find a review of a book by that title or author in Booklist; they have an online index from 2000 to the present.

I do not see an audio version at amazon. Perhaps there isn't one. The publisher is one which helps people self-publish items so I think it likely that, if there is to be one, that the author will have to do it himself, unless a larger publisher picks up the book.

Will audio books make my kids lazy readers?

I was wondering if I let my 9 year old listen to audio book occasionally if will make him a lazy reader? We have him read daily and he does very well but sometime I think it would be fun for him hang out in his room and listen to a book too. My wife thinks it'll make him a lazy reader - I'm not convinced. What do you think?

BTW: he's not an ambitious reader - we have to encourage him to read daily. He never chooses to on his own.
I wouldn't expect that the audio book will help him read better but I think it would be good for his imagination.

I listen to audio books all the time while driving or mowing the lawn and it hasn't made me dumb....but I already know how to read well.

I will decide with my wife but I was probing for some input from other parents.

I am not a parent, but I am an elementary teacher. I actually think that letting him listen to audio books once in a while is a great idea - especially if he is reading along in a paper copy of the book. Kids (and many adults) love being read to, and it is actually helpful for low or reluctant readers to be read to, either by a person or by listening to an audio book. This allows them to experience the joy of reading and literature and also provides them with a model of fluent reading. I couldn't agree more with you that this is a fantastic way to enjoy books. Great idea, Dad!

FrogDogMedia LLC has a wonderful audio book browser with many volumes of both classic and unique audio book apps for the iPhone. Aladdin and the Magic Lamp is a great story for kids and grownups alike. The audio and graphics are a little dated, but this is a “classics” iPhone app so I guess this is to be expected. No matter the user interface that FrogDogMedia LLC uses is very clean.

The user once they open the app only has a couple of settings that can be changed by taping the information (i) virtual tab. The settings one can change are the narrator on or off mode and the auto page turn on or off mode. Either way you advance pages forward or backward with finger swipes depending on which way you want to navigate. Obviously if you are on auto page turn this will be completed for you.
