I don't have much time to read, but commute via driving to work and need to read this for a class in College. Does anyone know if they even make an audio book of Effi Briest in English, and if so, where can I find it?
Not having any luck locating the book in an audio format (English). The link below is to the DVD on sale at Amazon - it's in German and has subtitles. I tried a couple of audiobook sites - nothing even came up for Fontane either.

just read a book thats known for being a tough read and keep a dictionary on you, looking up every word in the book you dont understand.
