Audio Book Cd Player

I have a friend who has poor vision. I want her to listen to some audio books but I do not know what type of player to get her. Is there a special player for audio books? Where is a good place to get audio players online or in philly? Please help me.

Get a CD player that can play MP3 CD's, too. Audio books are often 10-15 CD's, but ripped to MP3 can fit on just a couple CD's. Also a lot of downloadable books from libraries are now available in MP3, too.

Maybe a cheap MP3 player would do as well, something like the Creative Zen Stone which doesn't have a display so it can be worked poor/no vision. Players with displays often are almost impossible to use if you can't see the display -- too much "click until you see such and such."

My dad has poor eyesight and can no longer read. He has expressed an interest in listening to audio books, and I would like to purchase a cd player and some audio books for him for Christmas. However, I want to be sure I am getting a cd player that will hold its place on the cd when he cuts it off, and also one with fairly easy to use features. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If your dad is legally blind, he is eligible for state services for the visually impaired. Most states have a free library of books on tape or on CD and they provide a simple player as part of this service. Just go to the phone book to the section with your state's services. There should be an agency for the visually impaired. Call them and see if he qualifies.

It did it in my previous car, Mum has the same trouble in her car. It will hang up on a track or just stop playing or sometimes just spit the cd out. Is it making a judgement on my chosen reading (listening) material?? Should I buy a fancier system and have it installed? Or should I just quit work so I would have time to sit and read the books?

1st thing, look at ur CD player and see it it can read CD-R, the most common problem ppl have with audio books, is that the ppl that make the CDs, use CD-R, cos its cheaper than using a studio like u would if u made music. older cd player can't play then (well thay play them, but thay miss bits of the cds). 2nd thing, look at the CD's them selfs, if thay r clean u will get a better sound, if thay need a clean use a cotten cloth, start in the center of the disk and movin around the CD move up and out. but quiting work sounds like a good idea!
